Republic of Malta - Maltese islands highlighting Gozo

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

Gozo.jpg

I don't know if it happens in your family, but in mine I have at least three cousins who emigrated when they finished their courses and never came back. One is in Brazil, another in Germany and another in Malta.
We have already visited Germany so this time we took a quick trip to Malta.
Brazil arouses a lot of curiosity but it won't be a visit to the wonderful city for now :-)
Before arriving in Malta, we took a quick trip to the Island of Gozo.
This island is smaller and much calmer, starting with the fact that it has far fewer inhabitants, but it is rich in places to visit.
Anyone who thinks that one day is enough to discover all the hidden nooks and crannies with so much history to tell would be mistaken. As we were only going to spend one day there, we went to see some (but few) of the beautiful points of this little wonder.
We start in the city of Victoria or as the locals call it Ir-Rabat, and its cobbled streets, full of local shops, many cafes and restaurants with very pleasant terraces and lots of color!

Right there, at the end of the street is St. George's Basilica or Marble Basilica, one of the most important in Gozo and is known as such because it is covered in this stone.
From here we continued on to the Victoria Citadel, the city's landmark and where we found the Victoria Cathedral. This cathedral pays homage to the Assumption of Our Lady and has been the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gozo since the diocese was formed in 1864.
Built where a Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Juno once stood, the current church was built between 1697 and 1711.
We then decided to come and take a look at the sea at Xlendi Bay, which as it was in the middle of winter was devoid of bathers but is an excellent option for swimming in the summer and maybe even diving or snorkeling :-) Here's a tip!

There is a very popular beach here that is also the largest. Its popularity is due not to its size but to its red sand, but the cliffs that surround it complete its beauty.
Here there is a spot that attracts many tourists (as you can see from the photos) where you can have one of the best views of the bay but not always the best photos :-(
I'm talking about Tal-Mixta Cave, which is located nothing more, nothing less than one of the cliffs at the end of the bay. Access is difficult, the walk (from the beach) is quite steep (you can drive almost to the place) but in the end it's all worth it to enjoy this beautiful landscape.

On this magical getaway on the Island of Gozo, we discover that every corner tells a story, every alley hides secrets and every view is a masterpiece of nature. May this story inspire you to explore these less traveled paths, to discover the wonders that this world of ours has to offer us.

See you around.
I hope you enjoyed! Be happy 😊
Wishing you much peace and health

The place is very clean and well kept, you can tell that they give a lot of importance to its preservation, although it is not a very popular tourist destination, it has a lot to offer, such as its red sand beach, which is not common.

Indeed. Maybe due to the fact that is not so visited by tourists allows the island to be in conditions. The red sand beach is amazing 🙂 thank you for your comment 😄

Such a gem! It's both good and bad for not being so known by the tourists. On one side you can enjoy silence and less crowded places but equally would help the economy if more tourists would come by!

Hello!Yes,you are correct 😃 It is amazing!! When we were here we saw some tourists but it was relatively calm,i belive that is due the time of year. I think that in summer it is different and there are more visitors! In fact, tourism makes a place grow, but I also like to travel to less visited places because we can more calmly enjoy what they have to offer🙂

Seriously? How cool 👌I found this island particularly beautiful, perhaps because I was able to observe some things in more detail as it was quite calm that day and the weather helped. Thanks for stopping by😄

Photography with the wonderful city that you have presented to us through travel. It's really fun. From the blue water here to the red mud, the cave scene is mesmerizing. Some of these scenes I really like. If ever the Lord is kind or gives an opportunity to travel to such a place. Then I will be most happy. And will continue to try to travel here. The Republic of Malta is a wonderful place to visit, a simple and full of talent. Wishing success for your journey to my creator.

Thank you for sharing with us this gem,@onyfest!

I've never been in Malta, neither in the Island of Gozo, but from I've seen here, the willingness of visiting it is huge. So much places to see... Right?

The best thing when it is not possible to visit in person is to dream about it... and you made me dream about it :)
