Porto / Museu dos Descobrimentos - World of Discoveries | Boat Trip / Riding Portugal
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)
As I said, the part we liked most about visiting the Discoveries Museum wasn't in the last post. Inside the museum there is a "river" along which we take a twenty-five minute boat trip and which tells the story of the highlights of Portuguese discoveries. If there is a beautiful way to learn, this is one of them and we truly felt that we were visiting every bit of our history.

The boat departs from Porto and the first stop is Lisbon in the main seaport at the time. From there we headed to North Africa where the beginning of expansion began. Here the Conquest of Ceuta takes place, which is a key point in the discoveries. The journey continued and suddenly a storm hit us! We were passing the Cape of Storms towards the East.

Before that, we made a stop in Black Africa (our navigators' stopping point), and we also passed through tropical forests, which were used to study the fauna and flora.

We have arrived in India! Here our navigators (Vasco da Gama) established important commercial relationships that were decisive for the prosperity of the Portuguese reign.
The next location was one of the places I found most beautiful! Macau is one of the strategic points on the trade routes in the East. We then passed through Timor and China where true friendships were made.

We then arrived in Japan, which was the furthest place our navigators had ever reached. Initially it was a clash of cultures but it has remained with us to this day.

And finally Brazil in 1500 by Pedro Álvares Cabral which became the main location of the Portuguese economy!
I loved the way the story is told. The little boat where we take the excursion has a (vocal) guide who tells us the history of every place we go.
As I told you previously, there is nothing better than creating memories with our children and if they can learn even better.

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health
