Foz da Ribeira de Silvares Route - Portugal

I always say that close to home we have more and more trails that we haven't explored yet. Sometimes I think we're always on the go and even when we're out for a walk we're absorbed in our thoughts and don't even notice what's around us.
We went for a walk to the beach in a place where we go regularly. But as the winter this year has been quite rainy, the beach has not been a first choice.

Digo sempre que perto de casa temos cada vez mais trilhos que ainda não exploramos. Às vezes acho que andamos sempre a mil e mesmo em passeio vamos absorvidos no nossos pensamentos e nem notamos o que nos rodeia.
Fomos dar um passeio até à praia por um local onde vamos com alguma regularidade. Mas como o Inverno este ano até tem sido bastante chuvoso a praia não tem sido uma primeiro escolha.

We took a chance and off we went. The usual path was under construction and we had to follow an alternative road that took us to an entrance to the beach that we didn't know about and there we found some signs pointing out routes that we hadn't yet taken.
We opted for number three, the Foz da Ribeira de Silvares Route.
Until we reach the sand we still have a few meters to walk between the houses and the beach.

Arriscamos e lá fomos. O caminho habitual estava em obras e tivemos de seguir por uma estrada alternativa que nos levou a uma entrada para a praia que desconheciamos e ali encontramos umas placas a assinalar percursos que ainda não tinhamos feito.
Optamos pelo numero três, o Percurso da Foz da Ribeira de Silvares.
Até chegar ao areal temos ainda alguns metros que percorremos entre as casas e a praia.

Up there, it was possible to watch the fishermen trying their luck in the sea, which was heard with all its intensity.
I've never fished, but it would be difficult for me to sit still for an hour waiting for something to bite the hook :-)
When we enter the walkway we immediately notice the number of plants that thrive there, right next to the sea. I like stopping and seeing each plant, leaf and showing the little one that even in the middle of places where conditions may not be the most favorable there is always something that thrives. in some areas, the walkways were covered in sand, meaning that some parts were buried by the dunes.

Ali no cimo foi possivel observar os pescadores a tentar a sua sorte no mar que se fazia ouvir com toda a sua intensidade.
Nunca pesquei, mas para mim seria dificil estar uma hora parada à espera que algo mordesse o anzol :-)
Quando entramos no passadiço percebemos de imediato a quantidade de plantas que mesmo ao pé do mar vingam por ali. Gosto de ir parando e de ver cada planta, folha e mostrando à pequena que mesmo no meio de locais onde as condições podem não ser as mais favoráveis há sempre algo que prospera. em algumas zonas, os passadiços estavam cobertos de areia, pelo que algumas partes ficaram soterradas pelas dunas.

I've always heard that the sea comes to take what's its own, and I confess that seeing this advance of the sea and sand year after year makes me a little worried. In the air, the seagulls hovered above our heads and soon disappeared. Just ahead, some small lakes appeared where they were landing. I don't know if they were expecting a storm, but what is certain is that they all gathered in the same place.

Sempre ouvi dizer que o mar vem buscar o que é seu, e confesso que ver ano após ano este avanço do mar e da areia me deixa um pouco preocupada. No ar as gaivotas sobreavam as nossas cabeças e pouco depois desapareciam. Logo ali à frente, surgiram uns pequenos lagos onde elas estavam a pousar. Não sei se adivinhavam alguma tempestade mas o certo é que se juntaram todas no mesmo local.

We took advantage of being there and went to the seaside. I confess that I already miss it and that I miss summer. The girl uses the sand as a canvas, and whenever we are here she takes the opportunity to draw pictures along the way :-) Away from screens and routines, she gives free rein to her imagination and ends up lead us to use ours too. Games with pebbles and an afternoon well spent creating memories.

Aproveitamos que ali estavamos e fomos até ao pé do mar. Confesso que já tinha saudades e que sinto falta do Verão. A miúda usa o areal como uma tela, e sempre que aqui estamos aproveita para ir fazendo desenhos pelo caminho :-) Longe dos ecrãs e das rotinas, dá largas à imaginação e acaba por nos levar a usar a nossa também. Jogos com pedrinhas e uma tarde bem passada a criar memórias.
