I share my first post in the WednesdayWalk community. I have been following the posts in this community for a long time. I was ready to share a post here today. A graveyard walk I did recently affected me a lot. I wanted to share these thoughts with you through this community.

Have you ever walked in a graveyard before? Have you ever faced such a question before? I asked myself this question three days ago when I did this walk.

WednesdayWalk topluluğundaki ilk paylaşımımı yapıyorum. Bu topluluktaki paylaşımları uzun zamandır takip ediyordum. Burada bir post paylaşmak için bugün hazır olduğumu hissettim. Geçenlerde yaptığım bir mezarlık yürüyüşü beni çok etkiledi. Bu düşüncelerimi sizinle bu topluluk aracılığı ile paylaşmak istedim.

When I looked at the first photo, I could see the connection between life and death. Living or dying; both have a connection with the earth. Both are rooted in the earth. I see the places we live in while we are alive as temporary. They all have an end, so the houses we live in are not really ours. While living in those high-rise buildings you see in the first photo, we can suddenly face the reality of death and move to our new place.

İlk fotoğrafa baktığımda ölüm ve yaşam arasındaki bağlantıyı görebildim. Yaşamak ya da ölmek; ikisinin de toprakla bir bağlantısı var. İkisinin de kökü toprağa bağlanıyor. Ben hayattayken yaşadığımız yerleri geçici olarak görüyorum. Hepsinin bir sonu var yani o oturduğumuz evler aslında bizim değil. İlk fotoğrafta gördüğünüz o yüksek binalarda yaşarken bir anda ölüm gerçeği ile karşılaşıp yeni yerimize geçebiliriz.

On Ramadan Eid, Muslims go to graveyards to visit their relatives. I, my mother, my brother also went to the graveyard to visit my uncle. After praying at my uncle's grave for a while, I wanted to take a walk in the graveyard. It was my first time doing this. I felt strange thinking about it, but without thinking anymore, I started walking between the graveyards.

Ramazan Bayramı'nda müslümanlar yakınlarını ziyaret için mezarlıklara giderler. Ben annem ve erkek kardeşim de dayımı ziyaret etmek için mezarlığa gittik. Dayımın mezarında bir süre dua okuduktan sonra mezarlıkta yürüyüş yapmak istedim. Bunu ilk kez yapacaktım. Bunu düşünürken kendimi tuhaf hissettim. Ancak daha fazla düşünmeden mezarlıklar arasında yürümeye başladım.

While walking, I focused on the flowers. There were flowers in almost every graveyard. The most prominent of these were the tulips. You know Istanbul is famous for its tulips.

Yürüyüş yaparken en çok ilgimi çeken şey çiçekler oldu. Neredeyse her mezarlığın üzerinde çiçekler vardı. Bunlar için en çok ön plana çıkan lalelerdi. Bilirsiniz İstanbul laleleri ile meşhurdur.

As I was walking, I was intrigued by the inscriptions on the tombstones and I took photos of some of them. I felt sad while reading them. I would like to briefly tell you what is written on them.

The person who died here says: "I left the world without having had enough of life and without having seen enough of the people I loved."

Yürüken mezar taşları üzerindeki yazılar ilgimi çekti ve bazılarının fotoğrafını çektim. O yazıları okurken hüzünlendim. Üzerlerinde ne yazdıklarını özet bir şekilde size anlatmak istiyorum.

Burada ölen kişi diyor ki; "dünya hayatına doyamadan ve sevdiğim insanları yeterince göremeden gittim."

"Don't trust in the worldly life, you never know when death will find you. I said goodbye to this world because of lung cancer."

"Dünya hayatına güvenmeyin, ölümün sizi ne zaman bulacağı belli olmaz. Ben de akciğer kanseri yüzünden bu dünyaya veda ettim."

Here she tells his child: "I miss you very much."

Burada annesi ölen çocuğuna onu çok özlediğini söylüyor.

Here too, the deceased tells his father that he misses him very much. The message is that death does not only come to the elderly but also to the young. This article affected me the most.

Burada da ölen kişi babasına onu çok özlediğini söylüyor. Ölümün sadece yaşlıları bulmadığı gençlerin de öleceği mesajı veriliyor. Beni en çok etkileyen bu yazı olmuştu.

Here is a verse from the Quran. It says that if you have done good to the deceased, you can join the good people.

Burada Kuran'ı Kerim'den bir ayet paylaşılmış. Ayette ölen kişiye iyilik yapmışsan iyi insanlar arasına katılabileceğin yazıyor.

It is explained here that respect for parents must come before they are lost.

Anne ve babaya duyulan saygının onları kaybetmeden önce olması gerektiği anlatılıyor burada.

Here are the words of a boy who is proud of his father. He says he has done justice to both life and death.

Burada da ölen babasıyla gurur duyan bir çocuğun sözleri var. Hayatı da ölümü de hakkıyla yerine getirdiğini söylüyor.

Someone who died at the age of 12 sends the message that you can die even at a young age. Yes, this is a very important message. We should not live as if we will never die.

12 yaşında hayatını kaybeden birinin genç yaşta olmasına rağmen ölebileceği mesajı veriliyor. Evet bu çok önemli bir mesaj. Hiç ölmeyecekmişiz gibi yaşamamamız lazım.

It is written that they will not forget the deceased even after they die.

Öldükten sonra da ölen kişiyi unutmayacakları yazılıyor.

The message is that God is the owner of life and death.

I continued to walk through the graveyard, remembering with every step the fact that death is part of our lives. It is important to always remember this fact.

Mezarlıkta yürümeye devam ettim. Attığım her adımda ölümün hayatımızın bir parçası olduğu gerçeğini hatırladım. Önemli olan bu gerçeği her zaman hatırlamak.

There is a fountain here. You know people want to water the graves of their loved ones. Some people build a fountain in their name for this purpose. As I was walking, I came across a few fountains like this one.

Burada bir çeşme var. Bilirsiniz insanlar sevdiklerinin mezarlarını sulamak isterler. Bazı insanlar da bunun için kendi adlarına çeşme yaptırırlar. Yürürken buna benzer birkaç tane çeşme ile karşılaştım.

I was interested in this cemetery because it belongs to a famous Turkish singer. I didn't know that Azer Bülbül's grave is here.

Bu mezarlık ilgimi çekti çünkü bu ünlü bir Türk ses sanatçısına ait. 2012 yılında vefat eden Azer Bülbül'ün mezarının burada olduğunu bilmiyordum.

I walked into the graveyard for about an hour. It was a different experience for me. I think I should do this sometimes. In fact, we should all visit graveyards whenever we have the opportunity.
