My first job as a Event Bouncer
My first even as a bounce was on a #theweekend in October 2021. I’ve sometimes thought of a being a bouncer like this as I always admire the various bouncers I see at events. The event took place at AkwaIbom ,a state in the southern part of #Nigeria 🇳🇬; it was the reception of wedding couple and you trust Nigerians with spraying money at events ,there was lots of cash spending at the ceremony.
Now let’s begin with this story , it all started when Mr Ben an event manager needed Bouncers and Ushers for the wedding reception ceremony of a rather popular #Business man in other words they’ll be lots of cash spending coming from his colleagues and partners - I thought to myself as he told me and asked me if I would lo be to be among the Bouncers ; without hesitation I said yes after all it would be for few hours of the day.
Apart from the previous thoughts 💭 of making money and eating ,lol, I also saw this as a dream come true and a right sign from God ,yes I believed.
As the day grew closer I still haven’t got the necessary dress code of black top long sleeve and pants , on the precise day I finally found a breakthrough as I met with my friend, Treks who gave me a top. 💪🏼 now we are set for the day . I started the journey alongside my roommate,Spiritual who was also invited for the Bouncer job , and I should also tell you reading this now that we didn’t eat all day prior to this time ;imagine going for a bouncer job without eating 🤦 We would get to the location somehow I thought to myself as we was out of funds for the transportation .
We finally somehow got to the location met with Mr Ben who gave us our Armor to put on and get ready for the start of #events . We dropped our property under a canopy and I went to the gate to resume my duty alongside Spiritual , in no time people started to troop in at the game in groups and solo. Our job wasn’t hard , just stand at the gate and make sure everything goes well, that’s all. And trust you it was a well delivered job as we controlled all the #outdoor activities, 😅 made security top notch and this made us get tip from some of the attendees who rather seem impressed by our doings and while all the activities was going on I didn’t see nothing. It’s no big deal anyways!

Yo, After all this fun and activities I retired back to the canopy -at this time many have left the venue as it was already dark setting-, only to discover a very big blunder has happened as Spiritual asked me about our bag in which we put our property, I was left speechless as I searched for it all over the place but did not find it, I even asked the fellow bouncer and usher if they by any chance saw it but they all said no!!!
No!, I thought to myself of all I have just lost and how the sweet story just turned sour and how all properties which included cloth, shoes, charger and power bank have all gone! What! If only that was the end, I also lost my debit card and house keys 😭 o why God , I thought you planned this to be lit I wondered what my faults was and after much consolation sparking a blunt and bottle of beer, spiritual and decided to go home , use the spare key we have to open the door 🚪. Till this very moment I write this I am still without a power bank nor a slippers.
I swear I never saw that coming at all , that’s that.
It thought me a lesson: Don’t guard someone else farmland when yours is not on guard. I will be careful next time.
Blame it all on me, maybe this maybe 🤔 that , but it is what it is.
