Social Media is My Special News Plug

There is a popular saying, which I quote: **"Knowledge is power"**, what you know is capable of shaping you and make you fit in a world where things are randomly changing and advancing. Data and information is very important in a world that is getting more and more advanced. We live to know and learn, only a dead person won't learn again. In our everyday lives, we need to stay updated and informed of the things around us.

This is why news is very important. News can be defined as an information about current events. We can get this information through many different sources and media: word of mouth, printing, postal systems, broadcasting, internet, radio, television and many other electronic mediums. These new can be about an event that has happened before or is currently happening or a forecast for what might happen due to current events.

Over here in Nigeria, many things are happening, as a business person, I tend to get updated daily, the prices of things are constantly changing, the security of some places are bad, the economy is suffering serious inflation. Honestly my News plug is not even the traditional Television news broadcast or Radio broadcast, instead I go online, Twitter and punch online have been giving me the News I want. I can't even remembered the last time I watched news on the television or listen to radio stations.

Whenever I watch news from TV broadcast or Radio, especially from reputable TV stations like Channels Television, Arise Television and other I accept their credibility as totally right. The same with some other popular radio stations. But same can't be said about social media new though, one of the advantages of social Media is that news reach you faster, accessibility is quicker and easier, also false news too can be passed faster. What I do about this is either to do visit my online news outlets like punch to verify the story.

This is why I love social media type of news, the traditional means of news might decide to cover a part of the story or hide the story, what I mean by traditional news outlets, I mean the news paper, television broadcast and Radio broadcast, but when it comes to online spaces, information are gotten from various sources in one of the most expressive manner, this is why some time bad people tend to use it for their Advantages. It's is very difficult for the news on Social media to be censored or banned or Hidden for that Matter. One of the biggest demerits of easy access to free information and news on the internet is the possibility of misinformation and fake news.

So far so good, social media is great just as the other means of getting news, one the reasons I prefer news on the internet is because of the quick access to unfiltered information, where I stay in Nigeria, getting newspapers can be very hard and a little costly, watching the TV too needs, so I prefer either streaming the News online or getting the news from Various Bookmarks of Trusted site and Social handles.
