Decision Making, Taking Tough Choices

Making Decisions is one of the most important part of life. It deals with making the right choices.
The funny part about some decisions making is that, any wrong decision can be very costly.

Some people can be too careful that they later procrastinate, i remember the last time i was trying to pick between a location up for sale or should I call it Rent .
One of My Colleagues called me that He is moving out of Benue state to Abuja. He wanted to give out Two of his Shops. Both if the outlets are in the Heart of town (Both are in Makurdi). The price of the two outlet is Two hundred and fifty thousand Naira (#250,000) non Negotiable amount. He gave a condition of 24hours. Or else he will give another person, because he needs the money urgently.

Immediately he told me i started brainstorming on how to pay and get the place to use.
There are many things i was thinking, although I had the money to pay, but then i don't have staffs that will stay in the shops for me, the distance of the Outlets are far from where i am residing ( The shops are in Makurdi and am in Konshisha). I asked him about how much profit he makes per day, he told me he makes at least five thousand Naira (#5,000) per day. It was an interesting deal but then i made some calls to one of my boss staying in Makurdi Benue about it. Before i could get a feedback from my boss, that my colleague told me not to worry again that he later gave the place the next day.
I was so disappointed with myself that morning but my boss response changed everything, My boss told me that , that particular area the outlet is located is always a target of Arm Robbers and usually the tax payment and many other payments.

This was how i escaped from puchase of rentage that might later affect me Negatively.
Just as my resolution for this new year is to take Actions, crucial decisions quickly, it doesn't stop me from the following processes.

These are some of the things i do before making decisions

• Asking Questions: This is a very important aspect of my decision making. For every decisions to be made, i first of all asks questions about it, either by reaching out to people that knows better than me or i brainstorm on what can go right or go wrong, is it so important, what if, what if nots.
• Gather Information on the Subject This is a process of getting information around, from people, my boss, friends or Family depending on who i feel like relating the issues to.
• I also Evaluate Options I check for available options, what can go wrong if i try this or this, which is better? Which is of the optimal importance.
• ** After i evaluate my options i make decisions** This is the final phase of the process of decision Making, i select the best Choice or Options available.

How long does it take to make this decisions?

It depends on the type of decisions am making. Some decisions take less than 1 hours, some decisions can take days.
Just like the scenerio with my colleagues, those kind of crucial decisions will need extensive research and evaluation.

What if things don't go according to plan

---

If things don't go as planned or my choice ended up being wrong, all i do is learn from my mistakes and then re strategize, and plan over and over again.
The saying experience is the best teacher is very valid, we keep learning and Unlearning.
