These kind of birds are quite different from the normal broilers i do keep.

• Why do I stop with them

I stopped keeping layers just because they are quite expensive to keep. Well, egg business is quite a lucrative one but getting the eggs from the birds is where the problem lies.

Average layer birds will feed for almost 6 months before starting to lay, all things being equal, in this time, they will be feeding all well for a better result.
Now imagine, as a farmer if you are not financially stable, how would you cope feeding them, while you wait for them so you can start selling the eggs.

Layers birds are susceptible to different attacks ranging from contaminations from vaccines, water or feed which could actually block or stops them from laying eggs.

• What am saying in essence, be it broilers ( meat production) or layers (for egg) whatever birds you are keeping, be ready to face the challenges, because they all come with different ones, as for me i felt the risk for keeping layer birds is much compared to broilers, that why I've stopped but that not to say i can't still go into that later in the future, maybe this time its going to be with different methods.

This time maybe with lesser birds so that there will be room to properly monitor them to identify where the problem comes from
