Ese pequeño que está alzando la mano es mi hijo mayor, recientemente comenzó a practicar baloncesto y ese retrato que le hice fue del segundo juego de su vida. Habían otros pequeños en esa cancha que quizá tienen más tiempo que él y mucha más experiencia, pero el nunca de dejó llevar por el miedo de jugar junto o contra niños mucho mayores que él y, por supuesto, más altos, fuertes y hábiles; además tampoco dejó de enfrentarse al miedo de tener a muchas personas gritando, aplaudiendo y la mayoría de las veces desconcentrando a los niños con sus comentarios insanos.
Así como un niño de tan corta edad tuvo que enfrentarse a todo eso porque le gusta lo que hace, de igual forma muchas veces un fotógrafo debe enfrentarse a un público que te estorba para tomar una fotografía, así como muchas veces uno le entorpece la visión a los espectadores y te dicen cosas, e incluso el miedo del introvertido de verse observado por los demás haciendo fotografías de forma inusual donde muchas veces tenemos que colocar la cámara cerca del piso para obtener los mejores ángulos, y más cuando son niños o personas de estatura baja, o también escalar sitios altos que nos permitan una vista más general y poco vista.
A eso fue a lo que tuve que enfrentarme para poder tomar las fotografías del segundo juego de mi hijo, además de lidiar con personas que se atravesaban frente al lente de la cámara y me quitaban capturas muy buenas y también el poco espacio para desplazarse que existía debido al tumulto de padres, madres y niños que se encontraban allí. La fotografía es un momento irrepetible que queda capturado en forma de imagen para que perdure en el tiempo, y muchas veces nos perdemos de momentos por muchas razones, una de ellas es el pensamiento del "qué podrán pensar los demás" al vernos tomar una cámara fotográfica y apuntarla hacia esos momentos porque la gente se nos queda viendo raro e incluso pueden llegar a reclamarnos en algún momento por haberles fotografiado pero todas estas cosas debemos dejarlas a un lado al momento de capturar las imágenes de nuestro arte fotográfico.

That little boy who is raising his hand is my oldest son, he recently started practicing basketball and that picture I took of him was from the second game of his life. There were other little ones on that court that maybe have more time than him and much more experience, but he never let himself be carried away by the fear of playing together or against children much older than him and, of course, taller, stronger and more skilled; he also never stopped facing the fear of having many people shouting, clapping and most of the time deconcentrating the children with their unhealthy comments.
Just as a child of such a young age had to face all that because he likes what he does, in the same way many times a photographer must face an audience that hinders you to take a picture, just as many times one hinders the vision of the spectators and they say things to you, and even the introvert's fear of being observed by others taking pictures in an unusual way where many times we have to place the camera close to the ground to get the best angles, especially when they are children or people of short stature, or also climb high places that allow us a more general and unseen view.
That's what I had to face to take the pictures of my son's second game, besides dealing with people who crossed in front of the camera lens and took away very good captures and also the little space to move that existed due to the crowd of fathers, mothers and children who were there. Photography is an unrepeatable moment that is captured in the form of an image to last in time, and many times we miss moments for many reasons, one of them is the thought of "what will others think" when they see us take a camera and point it towards those moments because people look at us funny and may even claim us at some point for having photographed them but all these things we must leave them aside when capturing the images of our photographic art.
