Tropinota hirta

Since a week ago, with the appearance of the first dandelions, my favorite bronze beetles finally appeared. So far only the mossy bronze beetles have appeared, the others are not there yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing them all, especially the golden bronze beetle.

This little one was so engrossed in her meal that she absolutely did not care that I was photographing her.

The bronzefinch is a mossy bronzefinch, or a shriveled bronzefinch (Tropinota hirta).

It belongs to the family Scarabaeidae, which includes about 30 thousand species.

Their body length is 8-13 mm.
They feed on flowers.

Eggs are laid in soil, larvae feed on dead roots and humus, pupating there.
Adults hibernate in soil, waking up in early spring. They occur in mid-March to mid-August, with mass flight in late May until the end of June. They like to fly on sunny days, but on cloudy and rainy days, they hide in the soil.
