Happy New Year Hive Family!

Wow, I Guess it is officially the future

Over the past decade or so I have recalled the same memory around this time of year. I keep remembering in the the early 90s sitting around with a bunch of friends having a bit too much to drink and bringing in the new year. We had this conversation about how advanced the world was going to be by the time the grandiose year 2000 rolled around.

2024-bee.jpg

Obviously everyone would have their own flying car, but most importantly the aliens were finally going to make themselves known and usher in a new era of universal love and acceptance along with the elimination of hunger and the need for money.

We would get into some really deep philosophical discussions about how social norms would be completely transformed with the new Star Trek like lifestyles of replicated food and supplies and no need to grind to pay the bills. The funniest part of it all was that 2000 was less than 10 years away. Why did we think everything was suddenly going to change in such a short period of time?

In hindsight, I can see that I was so young at the time that a decade might as well have been 50 years. Now, I look back 10 years and it feels like barely nothing has happened.

Looking Back on 2023 and Forward to 2024

Last year was a very busy one for me. Between keeping my 3 year old busy and continuing to build our business, I finally got a Hive witness node and backup up and running. There have been a few hiccups as discussed in by last post on the subject, we are smooth sailing for now.

We've also been heavily investing in equipment and spending a lot of time learning how to use it properly for some of our personal video projects that we are working on for a kids television show. Life has really been getting in the way with these projects but it is slowly coming along. It is really hard to spend a lot of time on something that is a huge 'IF' when you have so many other things to do which are bread and butter to your survival.

He has to pick flowers from every plant

I also really had no idea just how much being a full-time dad would take nearly every waking minute of my time. I take him out to play every afternoon, and before you know it, it's late and time to make dinner. So I cook food which takes even more time up. And then, time to put him in bed. This gives me just enough time to clean the giant mess he has made, clean the kitchen and maybe I'm left with 30 minutes to do something on the computer.

I think for 2024 my greatest goal is to learn how to manage my time better with this huge commitment. I am not getting any younger for sure, and have so many things I'd like to accomplish in this short lifetime.

You know what would make life a lot easier and give me a lot of free time? If this darn blockchain would finally take off and make us all some money! So much work and effort has been put in from so many people. When you look at where we are sitting on CoinMarketCap and the vast pile of cow dung sitting above us it boggles the mind. I know I say this every year, but let's make 2024 Hive's year!

Please consider voting for me as a Hive witness.
I would really appreciate your support!

I can't even imagine how crazy busy you must be with everything that is going on. I don't think we ever talked about it too much, but the thought behind Star Trek First Contact is pretty nice. Of course they had to go through another pretty harsh war before they got to that point. Things were a bit grim before the Vulcans showed up. Fingers crossed that 2024 brings a big boom to Hive!

Yeah, that was my favorite of the TNG movies. I think about that sometimes. Like the aliens are waiting for us to almost destroy ourselves to step in. hehe, heck, who knows. Maybe they already did? I don't know if it's true or not, but I watched this thing one time about some government facility where they had nuclear weapons or something where there was UAP sightings around the building and the computers started to glitch. I can't remember the details. I'll have to look that up again.

Fingers crossed that 2024 brings a big boom to Hive!

I hope so! I could really use the extra income.

Some of the new info that is coming out lately about aliens is very interesting. I take it all with a grain of salt, but it's more believable than anything else we have seen up to this point. Some of the sources really make you think it could be possible.

I know! It's pretty wild. It feels a lot different this time compared to other times when UFO stuff managed to make it to the news.

Haha, yeah so many people were freaked out about Y2K. I remember everyone was selling those add-on cards for computers that were supposed to resolve the issue. That was a wild time.

Happy New Year to you as well!

Yeah, we are already in the future, hebe it's funny how time flies and I believe we will make the best use of our time.

I can tell it's been much of a struggle for you to multi-task but I believe it will get better as Little Ricky gets older. Just a reminder you are an amazing dad, keep it up!

I am honestly wishing you the best this year and I hope all your dreams come true and you smash more of your set goals this year.

It is hard, some days more than others. @little-ricky is so full of energy and doesn't give me a moment's rest. Maybe in 2024 he will calm down? lol.. Not likely, but you can wish.

I remember seeing a lot of retro posters about 90s people predicting a flying car in the 21st century. Just mind blowing how we look forward on the things in the future. Anyway, you are a great dad with a very good time-management, you always have time to write a post here while taking care of your child. That's amazing! Looking forward for this 2024 year to be smooth and great!

It's kind of funny too because when I was a kid, I used to see really old videos that people my grandparents' age made when they were young talking about flying cars by the 1980s. That seems even more optimistic.

I think it's part of human curiosity and this makes life kinda exciting.

I feel that the older we get,the more we realize that time actually runs. 24 hours is barely enough to carry out daily tasks. But that's where time management comes in.

I sincerely hope that you get a hang of time management. Also,I hope 2024 is a great year for you and your adorable kid.

24 hours is barely enough to carry out daily tasks.

I was just talking to my dad about this. He was saying the same thing that I have noticed, which is when you were younger you could get dozens of things done in a day. Now it takes half the day to do one thing. I think it is partially the result of all the distractions in the modern world.

Distractions, I'd agree with that. You set your mind to do one thing and the next minute you're doing something else. This is one thing I've been face recently 😄

Oh none of the dads now knew what it would be like to be a full time dad until they actually became one, I still don't get how we never know some things until we're in it lol.

Well, I must say you're doing a great job at it from what I just read and I'm sure your boy appreciates all you do. Yeah, managing your time would work magic for you hehe.

Happy new year to you too and congrats on your witness node success, more success stories this year... We go again!

we never know some things until we're in it lol.

It reminds me of something I realized when I was a kid. my mom kept saying down get close to the fire because it would burn me. We were camping out and I kept holding a stick too close to the flame. Finally I got a good sharp taste of the heat on my hand and yelled out. That's when I really realized the fire was hot. haha! I think that's the difference between knowledge and wisdom! Happy New Year!

Yeah, you are right about that. Actually becoming a dad full time was like being dropped head first into a tub of ice. It is kind of shocking just how much attention he requires!

Happy New Year to you as well, Here's hoping things will get just a bit easier this year!

Happy New Year 🎉. Haha, your intro got me smiling. Aliens and humans kinda life. Hehe, you got my imagination zooming right into reality. Lol.

It is beautiful knowing you spend so much time with your son. I like that very much, and I just hope the blockchain does us well. I barely get something at times. Lol. But, it is fine. We keep pushing.

Yeah, a combination of me and alcohol can create some interesting ideas. lol! I don't really drink anymore but back then I would indulge quite a bit during the holidays and got a bit... funny. lol

It is beautiful knowing you spend so much time with your son.

I love this kid so much. My little pain in the butt!

Happy New Year!

Did you ever watch Conan back when he was on Late Nite? He had a skit called "In the year 2000" where he'd make all these crazy joke predictions. And now we are in 2024. To me, the future. To my kids, it's now. Time just keeps on ticking, eh?

We would get into some really deep philosophical discussions about how social norms would be completely transformed with the new Star Trek like lifestyles of replicated food and supplies and no need to grind to pay the bills.

If we don't blow ourselves up (always a risk), the Yellowstone super-volcano doesn't erupt and kill us all, or global warming doesn't get us, I think this is still coming. AI, 3d printing, (cheap) fusion energy. These three things will propel us into the Star Trek-esque future—eventually. You and I will probably be dead by that time, but as progress speeds up we may start to see more and more hints or what is to come before old age.

Happy New Year as well! Taking care of a young little boy takes up almost all of your time and energy. Then the cleanup after he goes to bed, I remember all that all too well. I'm glad you're enjoying it because it goes by way too fast...

Back To The Future sure got it wrong on the flying cars. I really thought that we might have seen more progress when the millennium rolled around. Nothing really seems to be all that different except for internet capabilities and crypto. Medicine has seen some nice advances but not nearly as much as I would have thought. I guess we just aren't progressing as quickly as we might have envisioned back in 80's!

How's the node treating you?

Goodluck with the kids TV show and I would love to watch it whenever the project is done.

Happy New year sir😃

I have not invested money from my pocket but i have invested my time to earn some hive and i wanna see them flying.

Well , happy new year bro.

Wish you good times ahead.

Yes, it has been extremely stagnant. Sometimes I worry that if it hasn't already gotten traction, then it may never. In that case I will just have to enjoy using it for what it is!
