What's up Friends!

Welcome to my first post participating in the Splinterland Art Contest!

Here on Hive I follow a lot of illustrators and cartoonists, and something I noticed, was these contests where many were participating and they were art based on the fictional lore of @splinterlands, and something I always liked from my time when I played Lol and Warcraft, were the illustrations!, the fantastic world and characters always caught my attention.

So after a while I decided to join, first to try to get out of my comfort zone, explore these fantastic beings and find a way to represent them correctly and in an interesting way!

Here's what I did and how I did it:

When I was looking through the cards, many of them caught my attention, but the lord of fire! It seemed interesting to me, it reminded me a bit of Aatrox from league of legends, so I started to try to understand the character:

Apparently it's some kind of muscular minotaur, but without a prominent snout, no human nose either, and nothing escapes him with those four eyes!

In my version of the Lord Of Fire, I took several liberties, I changed the drawing style to a less cartoon style, to make him look more like an infernal demon, I removed the cape, since in the pose I was drawing him, this was going to hide a lot of him, and I think that without the cape he looks more intimidating. And the tail, although it could appear, I decided not to make insinuations about it, since it doesn't fit in the drawing and just putting a little piece of it below, maybe it would have been in the way.

The image of Tonton Revolver, works by guiding the eye in a zigzag, he takes advantage of the element of the sword to use it as part of the composition and he does it in many of his works, here I leave you his social networks so you can visit him if you are interested in this image, he is one of those artists that after a while of seeing him, you just want to keep going and keep practicing!

As I said, I used the concept of the low angle view and the expression of security and concentration to elaborate my drawing, but since I didn't have an element like the sword, I drew it manifesting a ball of fire on the left side, so that it's the first thing the eye sees! And through the arm you can get to his face and see his face a bit annoyed, but concentrated on burning whatever opposes him!

For the shadows and highlights, I used the method I'm most comfortable with, which is to separate them by layers and bag the opacity, the shadows in multiply and the highlights in overlay.

Putting it all together in Photoshop and giving it a few touches of color, this is the final result, what do you think?

What fun it was to do this illustration and learn about the world of Splinterlands, seeing also the illustrations of others, makes me want to keep practicing to get better! And to do interesting things with these characters!
