I tell you this because 5 months ago I met a Spanish grandmother, sick with Alzheimer's disease, her circle of friends is very small, she almost never likes to go out, she is always very depressed! She told me that she does not like Christmas because she has very bad memories of her youth, she was the only female and her father was always drunk, he was the comfort of her mother... they were in a situation of scarcity, they never celebrated Christmas.

I decided to give her a little bit of joy in her home, decorating the corner of her fireplace, with a little bit of light and recycled ornaments that other neighbors gave me.

By chance I found a bamboo stick and I thought... with this I'll start her ornament... here's how I did it.

I took the rod and cut it from smallest to largest and took 5 pieces out of it and thus I put together the ornaments that I had been given as a gift.

A quien no le gusta ver felíz a otro ser, provocar una sonrisa, que te den un abrazo fraternal, eso vale muchísimo y la satisfacción es invaluable.

Les digo esto porque hace 5 meses conozco una abuela española, enferma de Alzheimer, su círculo de amistades es muy reducido, casi nunca le gusta salir, siempre está muy depresiva!! Me comentaba que no le gusta la navidad pues tiene mjy malos recuerdos de su juventud, era única hembra y su padre estaba siempre ebrio, era el consuelo de su madre... sumidas a una situación de escasez, nunca celebraron la navidad.

Pues me dispuse a darle un poquito de alegría en su hogar, adornando el rincón de su chimenea, con un poco de luz y adornos reciclados que me regalaron otras vecinas.

Casualmente me he encontrado una vara de bambú y pensé... con esto comenzaré su adorno... a continuación les comparto como lo hice.

Tomé la vara y la fuí cortando de menor a mayor y saqué 5 pedazos de ella y así junté los adornos que me habian regalado.

Now I start to decorate the tree, for this I took a piece of cardboard for the base of the tree, lined it with some strips of pita I found around and glued it using hot silicone.

Ahora comienzo a adornar el arbolito, para ello tomé un pedazo de cartón para la base del mismo, lo forré con unas tiras de pita que encontré por ahí y lo pegué usando silicona caliente.

Then I cover the ends with these green garlands with snow details.

I made a star mold and cut it out of foami (eva rubber) in frosted red to give it more life and color, then I glued it to a cardboard base to give it more volume.

He sacado un molde de estrella y lo recorté en foami (goma eva) en color rojo escarchado para darle más vida y color, luego la pegué a una base de cartón para darle más volumen.

I also made a shiny gold ribbon to cover imperfections in the part that I couldn't cover with the garland.

También le hice un lazo en color dorado brillante y así cubrir imperfecciones en la parte que no me alcanzó cubrir con la guirnalda.

For the lower part (on the trunk) I also made a flower with bright tones.

Finally I put an extension of pink lights, I would have liked red and gold but that's what I had, I extended it to the edge of the chimney to place Santa Claus and Mama Claus on golden chains, just below the tree.

Por último le coloco una extensión de luces en color rosa, me hubiera gustado rojas y doradas pero era la que tenía, la extendí hacia el borde de la chimenea para colocar a papá noel y mamá Claus posados en cadenetas doradas, justo debajo del arbolito.🎄

We turn on the lights and it is beautiful this small and meaningful detail for this sad grandmother, my satisfaction was to see a wide smile on her face and hugging me she said full of feelings: it is the first time that there is a Christmas ornament in my house! That certainly filled me with tenderness and at the same time I understood that it is not necessary to invest money when we want to brighten a moment in someone else's life.

Some people look for happiness and others create it!
