REVIEW: FILTHY RICH
It might seem like I am living under a rock, but I just got to learn about Jeffrey Epstein through his documentary on Netflix. I have heard bits of the case; his suicide, but never really cared enough to follow up. However, just 3 episodes into the documentary and I am hooked.
Pedophilia, just like every other sexual perversion, is something I don't understand. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this said man, Jeffrey Epstein, could have anything he wanted in the world and chose little vulnerable girls.
Listening to the victims tell their stories, I could very much relate to their suffering and fear. It often seems irrational to be trapped in a difficult situation where it seems you could have walked out on but didn't. I could understand the fear and in some cases the greed.
Jeffrey Epstein is the villain in this story, but I can't help but question some of the supposed victims who aided him in his mischief by recruiting other young girls; those who stuck with him until it wasn't beneficial.
People like Jeffrey Epstein exist in the world today because people like you and I remain mute or turn a blind eye to the evils that exist. It takes great courage, to be honest, and to be frank, not all of us have it within ourselves. So, when heinous stories like this come out, rather than just casting all blame on the predators, we should hold ourselves accountable as well.
The contractor who saw young girls topless with an older man but said nothing
The girl who pimped her friend to Jeffrey
The employees that said nothing
I would have said nothing myself, which makes me question the type of person I am. I have seen bad things happen to people and turned a blind eye because it was not my business or I was too scared to do so, and when those things escalate I consider myself responsible as well--for being quiet, timid or even indifferent.
There was this said lady in the documentary who recruited over 40 girls to Jeffrey. In her defence, she said she was a victim like the other girls. In my view, that's just her defence mechanism kicking in. The thought that she had aided and abetted such heinous victims will never sit well with her, but it is true and she has to admit her guilt to move past it.
Owning up when you've done something wrong is the right thing to do. It shows you have the human decency and conscience to differentiate between right and wrong. People like Epstein don't have that in them. That's what's different about us from such sociopaths.
MONEY AND CORRUPTION
Watching this documentary reinforced my dislike of money and status. People at the very top get away with a lot of things, thus, they act with impunity. This is the sort of mentality that pervades a country like mine, where most people want to be wealthy not for comfort but to oppress other people--because they've been oppressed. Oppression is a culture spurred by mammon.
I am not saying wealth is a bad thing. It means the window to true freedom. However, many people do not know who or what they are until they are free. Freedom is a dangerous thing in the hands of a fool or pervert. Jeffrey Epstein was blinded by his wealth and status to the point he thought he could get away with anything. This is very typical of the rich and powerful people and is often the reason for their downfall.
I am stunned by the fact that Epstein conceived in his mind that he was going to get away with all the atrocities he had committed. The audacity of that man! Certainly, he had connections at the very top--the documentary reveals this much. However, his crimes were heinous.
It is one thing to steal billions of dollars (which he did at some point). Those sorts of crimes are easily swept under the carpet, especially for a man of his status. But to directly meddle with many young lives continuously is outrageous. I do not know what goes on in the heads of such people but I assume they are so disconnected from reality they lose their humanity. Everything and everyone are just numbers, stats and tools they can use.
Some people would say that to get to the very top, you need to sell your soul to the devil. I found myself thinking today, "Is this what it means to be at the top?" To mingle with pedophiles and other sexual predators; to deny people of justice; to crush the weak and helpless, because it feels like this is all that the elites do. Is this a side effect of power and status?
It is terrifying seeing how the world truly works, even in supposed saner climes. The perversion of the world delegates when my desires. I cannot even ask questions because I understand some questions don't have answers. Life is what it is--life.
I don't get it either. it's a sickness. Have you seen the Netflix documentary on John McAfee where he would pay to have scat sex with girls in some central American country?! That creeped me out. Well, it as the first time I heard of the act!
