Camp Arrival
Wednesday, 23rd of February, was the day I was asked to report to camp for my NYSC program. Thankfully, I was posted to the state I schooled in so the camp wasn't so far.
However, I was still wondering whether to go alone or not until I received a call from a female asking if we could go together as she was posted to the same camp as well. I quickly agreed. I was a happy to have a female company so fast and someone to chit chat with until I meet other people.
I set out on the journey by 11am, met up with my new friend whose name is Taiwo and we went to the car pack to board a bus. We both chose to sit at the front sit and waited for about an hour before the bus got filled with other passengers. Our vehicle left the car pack at around 12 noon.
The journey was a smooth one. We passed several rural areas with traditional buildings, tall trees, mini markets and farms.
I slept for about 45 minutes. Sleep that was much needed cos of the stress from preparations the previous day.
The journey took about 2 and half hours.
On getting to the camp venue, right in front of the gate, our bags were searched to make sure we didn't bring any metal curtleries with us or other materials that might serve as weapons.
After the search, we entered inside the compound. It was a really large compound with a big open space.
The first thing we were made to do was to drop our bags and immediately take the covid test!
I washed my hand with water and soap, sanitized and went on to submit my files. When I was cleared, I went on to take the Covid Test. The person who attended to me tried to be really nice but I just couldn't keep it together when I realized they were going to insert something into my nostrils.
A long "stick" with cotton bud covering one end of it was inserted into one of my nostrils. The doctor kept on going until I could almost feel the "stick" in my mouth!
Damn!... I felt soooo abused!
He removed the "stick" and left me to deal with the weird feeling that exercise gave me. My eyes was watering and I could still feel slight pain in my nostrils.
I was glad however that I had gotten the test over with. I took my luggage to another side of the entrance and waited for my Covid result before I could proceed into the orientation camp.
The registration into camp took quite awhile. After passing through about two offices, we were given hostels to drop our luggages and come back to finish up the registration. The process was quite stressful because the sun was hot and we had to stand in queues coupled with the stress of the journey.
We were given the NYSC official uniforms at the completion of the registration process before we finally retired to our hostels to freshen up, have dinner and rest. Since it was late at the time I was done, I couldn't join the parade that day but I tried to sleep early so I would have enough rest in preparation for the parade the next day.
I'm looking forward to an inspiring and exciting camp experience here at NYSC Orientation camp, Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State.

I love the pictures you took by the window. I also love traveling but yeah the stress can be something else.
I don't think I'd like something being shoved up my nose. Whooo!
I like the picture of you in the white too.
Trust me that shoving up one's nose is just super uncomfortable😫
Thanks for the compliments!🥰
