Lately I have been more dedicated to making digital drawings, but one morning I woke up with the desire to return to traditional drawing and make a small illustration with watercolors, especially to learn to use a little better some watercolor pencils that although I always use to complement my drawings, I had not given myself the task of seeing a tutorial that would provide me with better information and tips for using them.

These colored pencils actually belong to my younger brother, he won it in a drawing contest a year or two ago, but I usually use them myself. I don't have any other materials from this brand, so I can't make many comparisons of their quality, and I haven't had watercolor colored pencils before either, so it only remains to say that they do their job very well.

Process:

As always, we start with the sketch, for this one I used a 2B pencil but once I was satisfied with the figure of this girl, I took an eraser and removed all the guide lines and too dark strokes so they wouldn't show when I started painting.

One thing I've learned over time is to use watercolors starting with the lightest tones and gradually getting darker in layers. The disadvantage in this drawing is that the paper I had is not specially made for painting with watercolors so I had to be careful not to wet the same area too much so as not to ruin the paper.

With the watercolors I colored the cheeks and then with the brush loaded in a little water I blurred the strokes, the same I did with the nose and the lips.

Regarding the hair, I chose not to blur the strokes made with the colored pencils because I like to have texture in this area and also a bit of color variation.

I felt a bit insecure with the clothes because I didn't feel they were coming out so well, but I had the face almost finished, so I just had to wait a bit for the drawing to dry and continue adding some details that could improve it.

Not long ago I bought some metallic watercolors and since then I have hardly used them, so I took the opportunity and painted in gold the small crown on the head of the character. With the black color I defined the contour and the eyelashes of the eyes and I feel that it was exactly what gave more life and expression to the face. I finished by using some white acrylic paint to add a little light and shine on the nose, lips and eyes and I finished this drawing.

What do you think? I feel satisfied with the result, this kind of illustrations always relax me and allow me to improve as long as I use a reference image and adapt it to my drawing style.

Últimamente he estado más dedicada a hacer dibujos en digital, pero una mañana desperté con ganas de volver al dibujo tradicional y hacer una pequeña ilustración con acuarelas, especialmente aprender a usar un poco mejor unos lápices acuarelables que si bien siempre uso para complementar mis dibujos, no me había dado la tarea de ver algún tutorial que me proporcionara mejor información y tips para usarlos.

Estos lápices de colores realmente son de mi hermano menor, lo ganó en un concurso de dibujo hace uno o dos años atrás, pero usualmente los uso yo. No tengo más materiales de esta marca, así que no puedo hacer muchas comparaciones de su calidad, y tampoco he tenido anteriormente lápices de colores de acuarela, así que solo queda decir que cumplen su función muy bien.

Proceso:

Como siempre, iniciamos con el boceto, para este usé un lápiz 2B pero una vez quedé satisfecha con la figura de esta chica, tomé un borrador y eliminé todas las líneas guías y los trazos demasiado oscuros para que no se vieran cuando empezara a pintar.

Algo que he aprendido con el tiempo es que hay que usar las acuarelas desde los tonos más claros y poco a poco ir oscureciendo en capas. La desventaja en este dibujo es que el papel que tenía no es especial para pintar con acuarelas así que tenía que ser cuidadosa de no humedecer demasiado una misma zona para que no se estropeara el papel.

Con los colores acuarelables coloreé las mejillas y luego con el pincel cargado en un poco de agua difuminé los trazos, lo mismo hice con la nariz y los labios.

Con respecto al cabello, elegí no difuminar los trazos hechos con los lápices de colores porque me gusta que haya textura en esta zona y también un poco de variación de color.

Me sentí un poco insegura con la ropa porque no sentí que estuvieran quedando tan bien, pero ya tenía el rostro casi terminado, así que solo debía esperar un poco a que el dibujo se secara y continuar añadiendo algunos detalles que pudiera mejorarlo.

Hace no mucho me compré unas acuarelas metálicas y desde entonces casi no las he usado, así que aproveché la ocasión y pinté de dorado la pequeña corona que hay sobre la cabeza del personaje. Con el color negro definí el contorno y las pestañas de los ojos y siento que fue justamente lo que le dio más vida y expresión al rostro. Terminé por usar un poco de pintura acrílica blanca para añadir un poco de luz y brillo sobre la nariz, los labios y los ojos y dí por terminado este dibujo.

¿A ustedes qué les parece? yo me siento satisfecha con el resultado, este tipo de ilustraciones siempre me relajan y me permiten mejorar siempre y cuando uso una imagen de referencia y la adapto a mi estilo de dibujo.
