Review | All Through the Night [ENG-ESP]

The story begins when an 18 year old girl decides to leave her baby in a baby carriage at the door of a church, because she can not take care of him and has all the hopes that a good family will give him a good life and all the love in the world. That same day, a thief tries to steal a valuable chalice adorned with a diamond in the shape of a star, after taking the chalice he flees, but on the way he runs into a stroller and to disguise his misdeed, he keeps the chalice in it and leaves. When he gets home he realizes that the car is not empty, there is a baby in it.

The baby was raised by Larry Centino, the thief of the chalice, who named the child Estrella, even though her great-aunt, an Italian woman in her 70s calls her Stellina. Seven years later, this man is still getting into trouble and is not the best example of a daddy, on the other hand, Estrella's real mom is trying to find her, she has never forgotten her baby and wants her back.

In this story, a parallel case occurs, as a woman fond of investigation and detectives, along with her husband, tries to find accurate answers about a new will of a deceased woman, both try to tie up ends and go through many places in search of answers, it turns out that both the case of the will and the baby abandoned at the gates of the church seven years ago are related.

This will be a short review, as it is a book I finished in two days or so. My first impression of this book, is that I was expecting a more complete story. Overall, the plot is interesting, there are two cases to be solved (Estrella's mother trying to find her again, and the one about the real will), and both stories build up to a point where you realize they are related and you predict how the outcome will be. However, I was hoping for a bit more elaborate scenes, for the cases to have more complexity, I feel that would have hooked me more into the story.

The characters are not very memorable, with the exception of Estrella's great aunt and the investigator Alvirah, I didn't feel a great affection for any other character, not even Estrella's mother.

This is the first time I read anything by Mary Higgins Clark, such it seems that she is a very well known and best selling author in the United States, and I found some titles that I am interested in reading, but this book "All Through the Night", I feel that it was written by someone young, or that it is aimed at a young audience .

The time I spent reading this book was entertaining, I think I would even read it again this week just to do it more calmly. would you recommend it? Even though it is a simple story, yes, especially to someone who is just starting out in the reading world or who wants to try something from the mystery genre.

Hola, linda comunidad de Hive Book Club, ¡feliz inicio de semana! He estado leyendo constantemente, lo cual me hace sentir bastante bien, sé que no soy la única en esta comunidad que los libros representar un lugar seguro y feliz; por eso hoy compartiré con ustedes una nueva reseña de un libro.

La estrella Robada (All Through the Night en la edición en Inglés), de la autora Mary Higgins Clark. Este libro lo adquirí hace unas dos semanas más o menos, que fue la feria del libro acá en mi ciudad, y logré intercambiar unos cuantos libros que no me habían gustado tanto o que ya tenían mucho tiempo en mi casa. La mayoría de libros que escogí fueron de misterio, eran los libros que más atraían mi atención en este apartado de “libros para intercambiar”. Me hubiera gustado encontrar algún libro de romance juvenil, pero normalmente en estos stands abundan los libros de política, o crecimiento personal…

Ahora sí, empezaré con mi reseña.
