Digital drawing | Self reflection [ENG-ESP]

This is one of the drawings that I've been able to complete the fastest, which makes me feel happy with the confidence I'm reaching when drawing in digital, you can imagine that it requires patience and successes and mistakes to gain knowledge...

Today I'm sharing with you this drawing that I finished last weekend, I didn't have a specific inspiration, I just let my inspiration fly during the whole process and this was the final result, which I really like, especially for the color palette I chose (and that at the beginning I was quite undecided with a couple more). I hope you enjoy the process:

First, the sketch, I used a pencil textured pen, it may be silly, but it makes me feel a bit like when I draw in traditional. First I positioned the girl's body, which was not very easy since it is the first time I do this kind of pose from the back, and I was afraid that the proportions would not be so good, but once this was achieved, with a different color to differentiate the layers of the elements, I drew the accessories on the girl's body and also the face of this tigress, which I then outlined using the brush that I usually use and varying the thickness of the lines to give dynamism to the outline.

I must say that I really liked the sketch and it made me think about the idea of starting to leave these lines of the sketch instead of doing lineart, it would be just cleaning up some lines, I don't know how good my style looks that way, but I intend to try it sometime.

The next thing was to add the colors: I started by filling each space with the color I thought looked best for it, and, with the multiply layers I started adding some simple shadows, which I then blurred in another layer and added shades with lighter tones. One thing I am proud of is the hair, sometimes I feel a little hesitant about my hair drawing style, but as I add layers and layers of detail I feel more confident about it.

I like the hair to look with movement and highlights, my technique to achieve this is to paint big strands with shadows which I then blend with the finger tool trying to make the hair texture, and then in another layer, I use a lighter color for the highlights or draw some loose hair to make it look more natural.

When I was satisfied with the coloring of the girl's character, I moved on to the rest of the elements: the comb, the mirror and the tiger inside it. The tiger's fur I made very animated, but I liked it, my focus was more on the texture of his spots and eyes, I feel I achieved a catchy look. I thought I needed to add a texture that would bring detail to the drawing, and since the character only looks less than half a body, I added it to the background.

Then, the background still looked very empty and I was worried that I didn't know what to do to draw something that would complement the main scene. After spending almost half a morning (I'm not lying xd) looking at images that could inspire me, I decided to draw some tropical plants that would match the tiger, since they live in the jungle and there are many plants of that kind there. It's something simple, but I think it works and doesn't overload the drawing, what do you think?

Este es uno de los dibujos que más rápido he logrado llevar a cabo, lo cual, me hace sentir feliz con la confianza que estoy alcanzando al dibujar en digital, pueden imaginarse que se requiere de paciencia y aciertos y errores para ganar conocimiento…

El día de hoy les comparto este dibujo que culminé el fin de semana, no tuve una inspiración específica, solo dejé mi inspiración volar durante todo el proceso y este fue el resultado final, que la verdad, me gusta mucho, especialmente por la paleta de colores que escogí (y que al principio estaba bastante indecisa con un par más). Espero que disfruten el proceso:

Primero, el boceto, usé una pluma con textura de lápiz, puede ser una tontería, pero me hace sentir un poco a cuando dibujo en tradicional. Primero posicioné el cuerpo de la chica, lo cual no fue muy fácil ya que es la primera vez que hago esa pose tipo de espaldas, y temía que las proporciones no quedaran tan bien, pero una vez logrado esto, con un color diferente para diferenciar las capas de los elementos, dibujé los accesorios sobre el cuerpo de la chica y también el rostro de esta tigresa, los cuales luego delineé usando el pincel que suelo usar y variando con los grosores de las líneas para darle dinamismo al delineado.

Debo decir que me gustó mucho el boceto y me hizo plantearme la idea de empezar a dejar estas líneas boceto en lugar de lineart, sería solo limpiar un poco algunas líneas, no sé qué tan bien se vea mi estilo de ese modo, pero pretendo intentarlo alguna vez.

Lo siguiente fue añadir los colores: empecé llenando cada espacio con el color que consideré que quedaba mejor para ello, y, con las capas de multiplicar empecé a añadir algunas sombras simples, que luego difuminé en otra capa y añadí matices con tonos más claros. Algo de lo que me siento orgullosa es del cabello, a veces siento un poco de duda con respecto a mi estilo para dibujar cabello, pero conforme voy añadiendo capas y capas de detalles me voy sintiendo más segura sobre esto.

Me gusta que el cabello se vea con movimiento y luces, mi técnica para lograrlo es pintar grandes mechones con sombras que luego difumino con la herramienta de dedo intentando hacer la textura de cabellos, y luego en otra capa, uso un color más claro para las luces o dibujo algunos cabellos sueltos para hacer que se vea más natural.

Cuando me sentí satisfecha con el coloreado del personaje de la chica, pasé al resto de los elementos: el peine, el espejo y el tigre dentro de él. El pelaje del tigre lo hice muy animado, pero me gustó, mi enfoque estuvo más bien dirigido a la textura de sus manchas y sus ojos, siento que logré una mirada atrapante. Pensé que necesitaba añadir una textura que aportada detalles al dibujo, y dado que el personaje solo se ve menos de medio cuerpo, lo añadí al fondo.

Entonces, el fondo seguía viéndose muy vacío y me preocupaba no saber qué hacer para dibujar algo que complementara con la escena principal. Después de pasar casi media mañana (no miento xd) viendo imágenes que me pudieran servir de inspiración, decidí dibujar algunas plantas tropicales que hicieran juego con el tigre, ya que ellos viven en la selva y ahí hay muchas plantas de ese tipo. Es algo simple, pero creo que funciona y no sobrecarga el dibujo. ¿ustedes qué piensan?
