Buying the Shiny Dip

That time of year for me to allocate some funds to alternate assets had come and gone for a couple of months. However, given how difficult it has been to read the markets given the unprecedented amount of liquidity in many market, I was hesitant to deploy any capital at all. However, I took a more of a Dollar Cost Averaging approach where I set aside some cash every couple of weeks to save for my eventual purchase.

This provided me with more cash available than I would usually have for my yearly purchase of precious metals. Finally, some market volatility allowed me the opportunity to look at some opportunities to move into some more precious metals. I started looking at my actual allocation between a number of metals. As I have known for a while, Silver has always been underrepresented in my portfolio. So that was my target although Gold continues to be of particular interest given the rumblings of inflation almost everywhere.

However, I was quickly reminded on why Silver has not been as actively added for me as I headed to my local shop and saw the continued limited amount of supply of all precious metals. Despite this, I was committed to making my purchase no matter the premiums given what I was seeing in availability. After looking at a very limited supply of Gold pieces, a particular piece of Silver started to catch my eye. While I thought of coming out with a couple of pieces, I got my first brick of precious metal; 100 ounces of Silver!
