High Street Of Benalmadena
The ‘High Street’ is the town center of Benalmadena. Although considered the town center, it is just a street of more upmarket shops and eateries. Nothing fancy really. But since it is a town center, the main street, together with a couple of more interesting side streets, and the immediate areas will always see some tourists – mostly middle aged couples. Locals are likely to be the young, hip and trendy.
I was up there one evening for dinner. And yesterday, I took a quick walk up there to take some pictures. I was there at about half past four – a quiet period of the day. Most of the shops were closed because it is siesta time from 2.30pm to 5pm. The mornings and the evenings are busier– especially the restaurants.
Anyway, I had a nice walk and was able to take some pictures. I hope they are of interest to you.
This is the Benalmadena train station.
A little way out of the station, I saw this bust of Don Roberto Olid Diaz. Apparently, he was a pediatrician, and humanitarian who did a lot of good work, and helped a lot of children of Benalmadena. He died in a traffic accident in 1990. The bust was in memory of him.
This is an iconic Jacaranda tree on High Street. In Spring, it is covered with beautiful purple flowers. Now there’s only a couple of small scattered blooms left.

Restaurants and shops on the high street.
Going through the pictures, I just realized that they were mostly restaurants. I guess they are more prominent.
