Touching Lives at Christmas
We all love Christmas and the festivities that come with it, the fact that it meets up with the Holidays and the end of the year where we are all looking forward to a brand new year makes Christmas the most celebrated holiday across the globe.
And I can vehemently say that Christmas is not limited to any particular religion now because everyone loves the Holidays. This is why we all have one or two things to say about Christmas and the memories that we may have gained over the years.
I for one have loads of beautiful memories to talk about if you should leave me to describe my Christmas days from infancy till now, the first I received a computer was during Christmas when Dad bought one for me and my siblings, from my first Christmas present, first Christmas tree growing up, my first Christmas trip with the family.
It is just a whole lot and I can easily go on and on and on without getting tired but then when I got into the University I came across this beautiful ritual that I came to fall in love with. Gradually it became one of the things I look forward to the most during the Christmas holidays.
TLC
Touching Lives at Christmas or TLC as it was popularly known is an event celebrated on the 25th of December every year during which health workers from the various sectors of healthcare come together and join hands to provide free care to extremely deprived communities with care as well as medication and other souvenirs or if you would want to call it, Christmas presents.
If my memory serves me right I started going for TLC programs with the aid of bettervision support from fundition at that time when I was in 2nd year and every year I made an effort towards that. The beautiful thing about TLC is that we visit so many deprived communities within a day, separated into different groups and so many lives are touched on that single day that they also get to enjoy the Christmas Spirit.
Sometimes these places and some of these kids haven't had good clothing in forever, some have never had general health care their entire lives and the conditions we encounter during these times make one wonder if they happen to be part of the Ashanti Region. My favorite part was the smiles that we bring to the faces of the indigenous folks whenever we go about these activities.
From the aged to the young ones, everyone gets to benefit and I believe this is a memory worth celebrating and talking about if I should talk about Christmas, although I also love that Home Alone movie buildup every year and the Harry Potter sequel, but beautiful lives touched could never compare to these.
