Putting the Jetskis away - Clever Jetski Man!
I know I said I'd avoid posting pictures of the damn beach and sunsets and other boring stuff but I couldn't help it as it would have been extremely difficult to create this post without doing so!
We brought our little house guest Kwan down to stay in Samui through the summer holidays and as when the sun started to go down, I took him down to our local beach, Lip Noi. Even pre-covid, it was a beautiful, un-spoilt and very quiet beach on the opposite side of the island from the main tourist locations with only a couple of small resorts lining the beach but since covid, and like our little local area in general, it seems to have been 'discovered' by tourists. It has also been discovered by 'the jetski guys!'
As the sun went down, it was time to put the jetskis away. I'd wondered whether they'd just leave them bobbing about overnight but no, at bang on 6pm, they began wheeling trailers out from behind the trees, one for each of the nine jetskis.
There is a small alleyway down to the beach and one guy reversed the ubiquitous Toyota pick-up to the end of the road and fastened a huge length of rope to the back. The rope was long enough to reach the edge of the water and the first trailer to the end and floated the first jetski onto it. Obviously, they didn't want to get the truck stuck on the beach. The truck moved forward and the process was repeated four more times until the first jetski was about at the entrance to the beach and the last one was just out of the water before they unfastened the rope from the truck, and reversed it back, directly connecting it to the first jetski. The truck pulled forward and the remaining four jetskis were hauled out, the Toyota now having 9 jetskis on trailers fastened to the back of it in a huge snaking, jetski roadtrain.
"I think its time we went home for some tea" said the jetski guy.
A long rope was tied between the first jetski and the Toyota pick-up!
One at a time they were hauled out of the water.
Next...
When the first trailer was on firm ground, everyone held onto the train to stop it rolling back into the sea as the truck was reversed back to the first trailer.
At this point, I had absolutely no idea where they were going to take them. The main road is only 100m up the track.
Just in case you're wondering how much all this fun and frivolity on the water costs...
Time to go home for tea. Giddy-up!!!
Where the hell were they going to take them I wondered. Surely they won't be driving a truck with nine jetskis fastened precariously to the back onto a main road? I know this is Thailand but even for Thailand, that would be barmy!
I was right, they weren't taking nine jetskis out onto the main road...just before they reached the junction, they disconnected four of them and just drove away with the first five! To where? I have no idea but no doubt they returned for the other four later, the guys all riding a jetski each happily as it trundled along the road, home!
Clever Jetski guys!...and better than that, it gave me an idea which I'll show you in a later post.
Thanks very much for dropping by and best wishes, health and happiness to all.

Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
This beach that you have shown in the photos is very beautiful. It also seems well equipped for entertainment
Jetskis are am annoying and loud pain in the chuff!! I have no idea the conversion rate, is it cheap or expensive to hire them?
That looks like a lovely wee beach!!
Damned annoying...but also great fun. Not cheap though at 25 quid for 15 minutes!
It's a beautiful palm fringes beach but to be fair, there are hundreds here that are all stunning. At our side of the island though, we also get the incredible sunsets. Before COVID though , foreign tourists around here were few and far between. I enjoyed being the only foreigner in the village! Now it's full of Russian draft Dodgers lol
25 quid for 15 minutes! Farking hell, that's a total rip off! That explains why I have never jet ski'ed anywhere ever :OD
I can imagine the place festooned with the Russians, trying to sound all not Russian!
There are too many of them, so to fool them, all the rest of the foreigners speak with a fake Russian accent ;-)
Maybe there are more group tours so they were taking nine Jetski to the main road. It may be costly but the experience is priceless my dear friend, nathen. I hope you are well. Best regards and have a good time!
Hey Pinky, hope you and your family are well and nice to see you becoming a Hive superstar!
Best wishes to you and your family and thank you for dropping by, made my day :-)
Even if they drove five jetskis to the main road, it would still be very dangerous. I guess they were taken to another beach where more people want to drive jetski?
Beach and sunset pictures never get old to me:) It looks like an especially nice day at the beach there. The water is calm and inviting ^^
It is lovely but I'm determined to follow them one day as I'm nosey to see where they go lol
You ever ridden one? They are great fun. I'd be on one every day if I had the money although it's so easy to get sunburnt quickly out on the sea and I'm red enough already!
Never ridden but I should if haha it looks so much fun (and paragliding as well)
