En los últimos años, las producciones de animación originales o no de Netflix son cada vez mejores, creo que existe una acertada visión para dar luz verde a proyectos que serán un éxito, ya que son (en este caso) películas con mucha calidad tanto en historia, así como en la animación, demostrando originalidad en ciertos diseños lo cual las hace más atractivas, entre esas producciones puedo nombrar a: “The Mitchells vs The Machines", “Klaus", “Pinocchio de Del Toro", “Nimona" y este nuevo film al que hago reseña, el cual es un proyecto arriesgado, ya que es basado en un gran héroe del Japón, pero que actualmente en otras partes del mundo tiene muy poco reconocimiento.

"Ultraman: Rising", es el nuevo film animado original de Netflix el cual es basado en el personaje de Utraman, creado por Eiji Tsuburaya en comienzos de los 60’; en esta nueva versión de tan mítico personaje veremos la historia de "Kenji Sato", un joven beisbolista con una carrera prominente en los Estados Unidos, pero que sorprendentemente decide ir a jugar a Japón, una decisión que oculta un gran secreto y es que "Ken" así como lo fue su madre y padre, posee el gran poder de transformarse en el poderoso protector del Japón de los ataques de los Kaijus; hasta aquí todo perfecto, pero la realidad es que Ken está lejos de ser considerado como un héroe y es por eso que deberá transitar un camino con diferentes obstáculos que si logra superar podrá crecer y ser Ultraman.

El film es dirigido y escrito por Shannon Tindle, quien ha trabajado en series animadas como "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends", también cumple la función de Storyboard Artist y guionista de la excelente "Kubo and the Two Strings", una historia en donde el tema de la paternidad o mejor dicho, la figura paterna es importante y traigo en acotación esa producción porque justamente en "Ultraman: Rising", el tema principal, el que funciona como motivo para cada personaje que hace presencia en esta historia, es la paternidad; un tema que no es ajeno para Ultraman que usa mucho el tema del legado y de pasar el manto del héroe, pero en esta oportunidad se usa más que nada para ser el motor del viaje de Ken a convertirse en el necesario héroe que debe ser, creo que lo realizado por Tindle y Marc Haimes en el guion es bueno, es simple, directo y bien desarrollado.

La dirección es otro gran acierto, Tindle se estrena en ese rol en esta película y lo hizo muy bien; el tomarse el necesario tiempo para hacer una breve introducción al significado o lo que es Ultraman y las batallas que realiza para salvar a Japón, es perfecto, así como dar introducción al tema principal del film, pero lo que más me ha gustado es como organiza las escenas de acción, el desarrollo de la trama, sea con escenas de drama y comedia, para después ofrecer un buen y correcto cierre con una hermosa secuencia de acción, la clasifico de hermosa porque la animación es sorprendente.

The direction is another great success, Tindle makes his debut in that role in this film and he did it very well; taking the necessary time to make a brief introduction to the meaning or what Ultraman is and the battles he does to save Japan, is perfect, as well as giving introduction to the main theme of the film, but what I liked the most is how he organizes the action scenes, the development of the plot, whether with scenes of drama and comedy, and then offer a good and correct closing with a beautiful action sequence, I classify it as beautiful because the animation is amazing.

Justamente la animación me pareció genial; creo que la influencia de la animación usada en films como el de "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse" es más que evidente en muchas nuevas producciones y no quiero decir que en este nuevo film sea una copia, me refiero a alejarse de lo habitual o mejor dicho, alejarse de copiar la realidad y crear un buen producto animado, colorido, dinámico, algo que sorprenda y creo que en este film se logra; me gustó el diseño de los personajes que a pesar de no ser el típico anime, de igual manera demuestra respeto por lo que es el diseño del típico protagonista de algún manga o anime; también puedo decir que hay un correcto trabajo en el diseño de los Kaiju, sé que no son terroríficos, pero de igual manera se crea excelentes escenas, muy divertidas y atractivas; con respecto al protagonista, el diseño de Utraman es perfecto, es muy bueno, es nostálgico y por eso lo considero el mejor lo film.

En el momento del estreno de Ultraman: Rising, pude leer breves opiniones en dónde resaltan las que decían que sin importar el tener cero conocimiento del personaje, la historia y la animación era tan atractiva que se engancharon inmediatamente con lo que para ellos es un nuevo personaje heroico y me parece genial porque en esta producción, no es que moderniza o cambia radicalmente a Ultraman, en este film se demuestra un gran respeto a lo que es ese clásico personaje, es de lo que más me ha gustado, el magnífico fanservice que se usa en momentos precisos y no se abusa de ellos y junto a lo nuevo que provee esta historia hace que este film sea bueno, entretenido y es una grata sorpresa, un excelente film familiar.
