Today I want to tell you about a Netflix K-drama that my brother recommended to me, it's been a while since I watched one, either because I was busy or I couldn't find one that called my attention, but I just had the opportunity to watch the first chapter of this one and it got me hooked immediately and I finished it that same day, the story was so entertaining, so without more to add, let's talk about the K-drama called "My name".

The plots of Korean series are always interesting when they get out of the typical cliché stories (nothing wrong with that, I've enjoyed many of them) and when they deal with revenge, they really get very creative with the whole development of the story, in this case, I can summarize the plot in a pretty simple way: A girl loses her father after he is murdered, the reasons are not entirely clear, but since nobody does anything to solve what happened, she will try to fix things by her own hands.

The series begins by introducing our protagonist Yoon Ji-woo, who on her way to high school is followed by some policemen, who remind her that they are looking for her father, and that if he tries to communicate with her, she should ask him to turn himself in. When she arrives at her classroom, the desk where she sits is scratched with many hurtful words, clearly her classmates know about her father's situation and reject the fact that she is still attending classes when her father is part of the mafia, we can also see how other classmates even complain to her why she is still there, that she should be ashamed of herself and that she should leave.

Later on, Yoon Ji-woo is informed that she will be transferred to another school and the reason seemed very unfair to me, the teacher tells her "Do you want to stay and keep bothering people? " as if she was somehow to blame for what happened, when she is a victim in any case, this news makes Yoon Ji-woo feel very upset, to the point that she can't stand a "joke" about bringing drugs to school that one of her classmates made to her, So it all ends in a fight between Yoon Ji-woo and 3 other girls, whom she ends up beating and leaving for home, on the way, she crosses again with the cops who follow her and she throws her backpack at them, breaking the windshield of the car and runs away.

Once at home, she receives several calls from her father, whom she tries to ignore, but ends up answering after so much insistence, it turns out that today is Yoon Ji-woo's birthday and he asks her how it went, she tired of everything tells him that she won't wait for him anymore and that for her, he is dead. When he tries to enter the apartment, he has trouble with the key and realizes that there is someone dressed all in black and with his face covered who is heading towards him, clearly with the intention of murdering him, In a last act of bravery, Yoon Ji-woo's father asks his attacker to please not do anything to his daughter and also prevents his daughter from going out to help him, the murderer leaves and once Yoon Ji-woo's father dies, she is able to open the door and witness the horrible scene.

No one seems to be interested in finding out who caused the murder, the police excuse themselves by saying they have no clues, so Yoon Ji-woo goes to the mob boss where her father was to find the murderer so she can kill him with her own hands, although Yoon Ji-woo's father was a close friend of the mob boss, he refuses because he knows she hasn't killed anyone and thinks she is not capable of doing it, So rejected once again, Yoon Ji-woo tries to get information on her own, this leads her into a very dangerous situation where she could have almost died but is saved by the mob boss, who, seeing how desperate Yoon Ji-woo is, takes her to a place full of wannabes who are training to join the mob, saying that she is a new recruit. Thus begins Yoon Ji-woo's journey to seek revenge and learn who killed her father and why he was murdered.

My opinion regarding this k-drama is divided into different aspects, for example, speaking only of the story, from the beginning it grabs you, clearly the fact that it is a revenge series already makes you anticipate from the beginning that there will be much rawness in it and many injustices as well, but this brings much to the realistic side of the story, how not everything is rosy and that to achieve your goals (speaking of this case which is the revenge of Yoon Ji-woo) the road will be full of many adversities and one by one is what ends up making you achieve what you expect or destroy you in the process, I think it is the most successful point of the series, besides not being a cliché story, it gives that surprise factor of not knowing what will happen next and that in aspects of suspense, is totally worth watching.

I would say that the character of the protagonist is very well developed, because on certain occasions we are presented with memories showing us how she was before everything that happens in the series, then the present which is when the story begins and finally the development of everything, allows us to perfectly understand how her character is built and I would say that in terms of revenge plots, is one of the characters that I like the most because of the realism, it is not a kind of John Wick who is a killing machine and seems immortal, no, here the aspects of the protagonist really feels like a girl who lost her father and tries to do the best she can to find answers regardless of the decisions and actions she has to take in the process and this seems to me another point that attracts me to the series.

Something that I must criticize and I don't know if I consider it a spoiler because I will talk a little bit about the end, but I will not give any details of the story, is the fact that there is something in the story that is really predictable or at least if you pay attention and you are like me that you like to try to guess what might happen in the future it is very possible that you get it right and this takes a little bit of fun out of the story, but that also has a point of advantage, because being something predictable you are already focused on it and also something very unexpected happens and it works perfectly just for what I said about the predictability of the above, let's say it's a way to keep balanced the obviousness and surprise in the story.

Being a series of only 8 episodes I consider that the story was somewhat abrupt in terms of development, because it feels like something fast, plus for those who have seen other Korean dramas or movies, the endings usually work in two ways, an open ending for a continuation or a closed ending, I would say that this case lends itself to both, it is an ending that if they decide to make it a continuation it works, but if it only stays in a single season it also works, I don't know whether to consider that as something questionable, but it is a formula that usually works in the world of Korean entertainment, I honestly liked the ending, so I feel quite happy with the whole story, although as I mentioned, 8 chapters seems a little short, but I also understand that the idea is not to lengthen so much a story that can be resolved in that way.

It is a k-drama that I recommend to get out of the cliché that many of us are used to, which is usually the romanticism of k-dramas, but it is also perfect for those people who are not immersed in the world of k-dramas and are looking for something entertaining with a story that ends up trapping from the beginning, a series that you can watch in a day if you want, something fast, enjoyable and very entertaining.

El día de hoy quiero comentarles sobre un K-drama de Netflix que me recomendó mi hermano, hace ya algo de tiempo que no miraba alguno ya fuese por estar ocupado o no encontrar alguno que me llamara plenamente la atención, pero apenas tuve la oportunidad de mirar el primer capítulo de este e hizo que me enganchara enseguida y lo terminé ése mismo día, así de entretenida se me hizo la historia, por lo que sin más que agregar, hablemos del K-drama llamado “Mi nombre”.

Las tramas de las series coreanas siempre son interesantes cuando se salen de las típicas historias cliché (que no tienen nada de malo, he disfrutado de muchas así) y cuando éstas tratan de venganzas, realmente se vuelven muy creativos con todo el desarrollo de la historia, en este caso, puedo resumir la trama de una manera bastante sencilla: Una chica pierde a su padre después de que éste es asesinado, las razones no están del todo claras, pero en vista de que nadie hace nada por resolver qué fue lo que sucedió, ella misma buscará arreglar las cosas por sus propias manos.

La serie comienza presentándonos a nuestra protagonista Yoon Ji-woo, quien rumbo a la secundaria es seguida por unos policías, quienes le recuerdan que están buscando a su padre, que si él intenta comunicarse con ella le pida que se entregue. Al llegar a su salón de clases, el pupitre en el que se sienta está rayado con muchas palabras hirientes, claramente sus compañeros conocen de la situación de su padre y le rechazan el hecho de seguir asistiendo a clases cuando su padre es parte de la mafia, además podemos ver como otras compañeras de clases incluso le reclaman el por qué sigue allí, que debería darle vergüenza y que se largue.

Más adelante, se le informa a Yoon Ji-woo que la van a transferir a otra escuela y la razón me pareció muy injusta, la profesora le dice “¿Quieres quedarte y seguir incomodando a la gente?” como si ella tuviese alguna culpa de lo sucedido, cuando es una victima en todo caso, esta noticia hace que Yoon Ji-woo se sienta muy molesta, hasta el punto de que no soporta una “broma” sobre traer drogas a la escuela que le hizo una de sus compañeras de clase, por lo que todo termina en una pelea entre Yoon Ji-woo y otras 3 chicas, a las cuales termina venciendo y marchándose a su hogar, en el camino, se cruza de nuevo con los policías que le siguen y esta les arroja su mochila rompiendo así el parabrisas del auto y se va corriendo.

Ya en casa, recibe varias llamadas de su padre, a quien intenta ignorar, pero termina contestando luego de tanta insistencia, resulta que hoy es el cumpleaños de Yoon Ji-woo y él le pregunta qué tal le fue, ella cansada de todo le dice que ya no le esperará más y que para ella, él está muerto. Estas palabras llegan a lo profundo de su padre y éste decide volver a su hogar con su hija, cuando intenta ingresar al apartamento tiene problemas con la llave y se percata de que hay alguien vestido completamente de negro y con la cara tapada quien se dirige hacia él, claramente con intención de asesinarle, en un último acto de valentía, el padre de Yoon Ji-woo le pide a su atacante que por favor no le haga nada a su hija y además impide que su hija salga a socorrerle, el asesino se marcha y una vez que el padre de Yoon Ji-woo muere, es que esta puede abrir la puerta y así presenciar la horrible escena.

A nadie parece interesarle encontrar al causante del asesinato, la policía se excusa diciendo que no tienen pistas, por lo que Yoon Ji-woo acude al jefe de la mafia donde estaba su padre para que encuentren al asesino y así ella pueda matarlo con sus propias manos, aunque el padre de Yoon Ji-woo era un gran amigo del jefe de la mafia, éste se niega porque sabe que ella no ha matado a nadie y piensa que no es capaz de hacerlo, por lo que rechazada una vez más, Yoon Ji-woo intenta conseguir información por su propia cuenta, esto la lleva a ponerse en una situación bastante peligrosa en la que casi pudo haber muerto pero es salvada por el jefe de la mafia, éste al ver lo desesperada que se encuentra Yoon Ji-woo la lleva a un lugar lleno de aspirantes quienes entrenan para pertenecer a la mafia, diciendo que es una nueva recluta. Así empieza el camino de Yoon Ji-woo en busca de venganza y conocer quién fue el asesino de su padre y por qué razón lo asesinaron.

Mi opinión con respecto a este k-drama está dividido en diferentes aspectos, por ejemplo, hablando únicamente de la historia, desde un principio te atrapa, claramente el hecho de que sea una serie de venganza ya te hace prever desde un principio que habrá mucha crudeza en la misma y muchas injusticias también, pero esto aporta mucho al lado realista de la historia, el cómo no todo es color de rosas y que para alcanzar tus metas (hablando de este caso que es la venganza de la Yoon Ji-woo) el camino estará repleto de muchas adversidades y una a una es lo que termina haciendo que logres lo que esperas o destruirte en el proceso, me parece que es el punto más acertado de la serie, además que al no ser una historia cliché, le da ese factor sorpresa de no saber qué será lo próximo que sucederá y eso en aspectos de suspenso, vale totalmente la pena de ver.

Diría que el personaje de la protagonista está muy bien desarrollado, porque en ciertas ocasiones se nos presentan recuerdos mostrándonos el cómo era antes de todo lo que acontece en la serie, luego el presente que es cuando empieza la historia y por último el desarrollo de todo, nos permite entender perfectamente el cómo está construido su personaje y diría que en temas de tramas de venganza, es uno de los personajes que más me gusta por lo realista, no es una especie de John Wick que es una maquina de matar y parece inmortal, no, aquí los aspectos de la protagonista realmente se siente como una chica que perdió a su padre e intenta hacer lo mejor que puede para encontrar respuestas sin importar las decisiones y acciones que tenga que tomar en el proceso y esto me parece otro punto que atrae de la serie.

Algo que debo criticar y no se si considerarlo spoiler porque hablaré un poco del final, pero no voy a dar ningún detalle de la historia, es el hecho de que hay algo en la historia que realmente es predecible o al menos si prestas atención y eres como yo que te gusta intentar adivinar lo que pueda suceder a futuro es muy posible que lo aciertes y esto resta un poco de diversión a la historia, pero eso también tiene un punto de ventaja, porque al ser algo predecible ya estás centrado en ello y también ocurre algo muy inesperado y funciona a la perfección justo por lo que comento de lo predecible de lo anterior, digamos que es una manera de mantener equilibrado la obviedad y la sorpresa en la historia.

Al ser una serie de tan sólo 8 episodios considero que fue algo brusca la historia en cuanto a desarrollo, porque se siente como algo rápido, además que para quienes han visto otros dramas o películas coreanas, los finales suelen funcionar de dos maneras, un final abierto para una continuación o un final cerrado, diría que este caso se presta para ambos, es un final que si deciden hacerle una continuación funciona, pero si sólo se queda en una única temporada también funciona, no sé si considerar eso como algo cuestionable, pero es una formula que suele funcionar en el mundo del entretenimiento coreano, a mí honestamente me gustó el final, por lo que me siento bastante contento con toda la historia, a pesar de que como mencioné, 8 capítulos me parece algo corto, pero también entiendo que la idea tampoco es alargar tanto una historia que puede resolverse de esa manera.

Es un k-drama que recomiendo para salir de lo cliché a lo que muchos estamos acostumbrados que suele ser el romanticismo de los k-dramas, pero también es perfecto para aquellas personas que no están sumergidos en el mundo de los k-dramas y buscan algo entretenido con una historia que termina atrapando desde el principio, una serie que puedes ver en un día si así lo deseas, algo rápido, disfrutable y muy entretenido.
