Vegan Hot Chocolate - First Attempt!
With the cold, wintery weather, it is a great opportunity to enjoy some of my favorite hot winter drinks. Therefore, when at the supermarket this week, I finally grabbed some new supply of cocoa powder ready to make some warming Hot Chocolate.
Along with the cocoa powder, I also grabbed some mandel drink which goes great with hot chocolate and capuccinos I think. Now it is not allowed to be called milk apparently and can only be called drink. I think this is some EU legislation, but Im not 100% sure as I don't pay attention to mainstream things too much.
I then measured out 400ml of mandel drink as I want quite a large portion. For measuring I grabbed this measuring jug that I have. To assist me, Mrs FIRE was helping with taking the photo here.
Once poured, I could then make sure that I use the right consistence of cocoa powder which is 2 teaspoons per 200ml of milk.
I poured the milk into a saucepan and started heating it up until it foams. To the milk I added a teaspoon of sugar for extra sweetness.
In the meantime, I added 4 large teaspoons of hot chocolate to the mug.
I then poured the mandel milk drink into the mug and mixed it all up.
I stirred frantically and it was becoming nice and chocolatey!
The final result was really good tasting, but I am thinking I can make it better so stay tuned for my new improved recipe coming soon!

I didnt add chilli, but I considered Cinammon sprinkling!

I never use vegan chocolate, but i love to drink chocolate milk, just like Chocos 😁 i can feel how tasty your drink is 😀

It's been a really long time since I have had some hot chocolate. I have a recipe that my mom gave me and it makes a killer mix, but it has a lot of sugar in it and it is not vegan.
I was having some craving for this one and glad I bought it. I really love the Mandel milk, it's great with coffee too.
I switched to almond milk about a decade ago and have enjoyed that.
I am preferring it myself, I think better than soya or other milk types.

The chocolate drink seems very tasty i will try it out as well we have ovaltine here as the go to chocolate milk but I want to try out with cocoa only with milk as it seems to be a better tastier experience it seems some how; what do you suggest?
Yes, you can give that a try. Im sure it would also taste quite good.

I think they pretty same. I didnt try Ovaltine for a long time though.

I also do not drink coffee for a few years now, so a hot chocolate is great! The milk is from Almonds, so is also very tasty!
Oh almond milk. I see. Here in the some cafe using almond milk too. But the cost so expensive to replace the general animal milk
Here this was the aldi own brand and cost something like €1,35. It is more expensive than cow milk a little.

hot cocoa and almond milk, should be decent enough. add some sweetener though.
I added some sugar which seemed to do the trick.
Try to replace sugar with honey if you want a more "healthy" alternative. Sometimes I use coconut or rice milk instead of the almond drink as it's sweeter. Love these experiments in the kitchen 😊

I love chocolate in almost all its presentations and a good cup of hot chocolate really comes in handy when it's cold, although I like even on hot days. 😃
It must be delicious with that almond drink although I have not tried it, I can only give my opinion that with coconut milk it is great.
