Social Media : Connecting Or Isolating Us?

While I haven't been one for social media mimics, I sometimes find myself questioning why we are here in the first place. For one, no one now wants to have a quick talk with strangers, and even when we do, we just want their numbers and then view each other's statuses to react sometimes or do nothing.

But then we do this and complain on the same social media that we are alone and depressed with no one to talk to. Is it that there is really no one to talk to, or that no one wants to be the first one to initiate the conversation?

And even when they do people dont really have something benefiting to talk about.

I have seen this happen a couple of times personally where whenever people whom I've not heard from in a long time reach out to complain about me not reaching out. And now that they reach out, they just want to do it for reaching out's sake, no tangible things to talk about.

Honestly, these are the types of people I hate reaching out to because whenever you just don't talk for a long time or haven't seen each other in a while, they already think there is a problem.

However, most times I just don't know nor do I have anything to talk about, and plus I sound awkward when trying to force a conversation.

Nevertheless, I have started thinking about what would be the best way to rekindle my conversation creativity as I believe it is reducing with every moment spent on social media that I now don't even like connecting on both social media and in real life anymore like before.

Yes, life taught me a lesson with connecting with the wrong people, but then it is all in the past, and if we do not live now, then when are we going to? For this reason, I will be going off my social media apps for the whole week starting on Monday. I won't be posting any statuses, checking out YouTube videos, nor will I be scrolling TikTok until next Sunday.

My social media usage is not even that much, but I just don't see its benefits that much since so many of us don't connect with each other through them anymore. How do you see social media these days? Are they still a good way to connect deeply or even on the surface, or are they just an escape for many people out there?

Social media still connects people though, I've seen a lot communicate well on social media but many only use it as a get away from some physical stress. Communication level is really dwindling with social media truly.
