Destination Bholaganj
The Kingdome of White Stone

It was a rainy week when we started to Slyhet from Dhaka, Bangladesh. We had no option as we booked everything ahead including transport so rain or hot, we had to start the tour.

Slyhet is about 235 kilometers away from where I live; we started early in the morning and it was just cats & dogs! Due to heavy rain, our Care couldn't run more than 60km/h! Finally, we reached Slyhet and stayed at Hotel Noorjahan Grand for the night and it was still raining.

Our first destination- the amazing Bholaganj the heaven of white stone also renowned as Sadapathar.

Bholaganj is the Nort-South part of Bangladesh just beside the East Khasi Hills District Of Meghalaya, India.

If you go uphill, far away you will find Cherapunji.

From the hotel, it was approximately 40 kilometers and we reached there in an hour by our car.
We have started to see the East Khasi hill range of Meghalaya from a distance!

The boat journey is about to start!

It looks like the more we get close to the hills the away it goes! The road is good so we had no trouble reaching Bholaganj from Slyhet City. It was heavy rain and the road was safe enough to drive.

The downstream of the "Dhalai river" falls to the Piyain Gang at a distance. We had to hire a boat which cost BDT850 up-down to the Bholaganj Ziro point. You could stay there as long as you want just exchange the contact number with the boatman.

I have never seen such beautiful water flow down the stream! Little water finds its way among stones.

The place is called Shadapathar (WhiteStone) due to most available stones are white.

Dhalai River is a transboundary river that started at Bholaganj and in the starting, it created a stone island and water flows around the island, the stone actually comes from the Indian Khasi and Jaintia Hills. This river originates from Atharamura Hills and ends it journey of 117 kilometers before it meets with another river.

It had been raining for a couple of days and still it was raining so water coming from the hills made our day! Millions of little stones under the feet cold waterfalls to the river from the hill range and the dancing clouds in the green hills range with drizzling weather made the view and environment more than amazing.

Rain was like a blessing for us as there were fewer tourists though it was a bit difficult as the younger tourist with us was just a four-year-old kid! We get wet and finally swim a bit in the crystal water.

Initially, we were worried about the kids as it was raining all day long; whatever the situation was these kids enjoyed the most, and each of them was okay, with no fever.

I wish I could stay there for a whole day just sitting under the shade and watching the waterfall over the millions of stones! Just let you know this place is one of the biggest stone quarrying areas in the country many people live on it.

It is easy to visit this place and if are in a group it could be budget friendly as well. Rainy season would be best time to visit to get the spectacular views. Please don't forget to take big umbrella with you.

I am happy that I have started the touring again! Hope you have enjoyed the views as well.
