Kirtonkhola River: The Beauty Queen of Barishal Division
Whenever I have been to the bank of Kirtonkhola River I have seen the river with full of water! It could be the river near to the Bay of Bengal. This river starts at Barishal and ends at Gajalia. This river fall into the Sea where it called “Bishkhali River”. Kirtonkhola River is about 160-kilometer long and about 500-meter average width.
Barishal Division started its journey with Six District of the Southern part of Bangladesh in 1993, this division has five main river called Kirtonkhola (160km) , Meghna (156km), Ariyal Khan (155km), Dhansiri (160km) and Shondha (61km).
The magnificent view of Kirtonkhola River and the natural view of both bank of the river could be observed from a boat! Yes, hire an engineless boat in the afternoon form Barishal Waterway Station (Launch Terminal) to find the beauty. After crossing the “30 Godown” from Barishal go to near the Dopdobia Bridge to watch the natural beauty of Dusk and of course the Sunset.
It is easy to be Barishal from any part of Bangladesh. There is an Airport, many AC/Non-AC bus services leave Dhaka every half an hour, and the most amazing transport would be the Waterway from Dhaka to Barishal. Those huge Launches will definitely remind you of the cruise ship.
We have enjoyed the evening, in the afternoon we went to watch all those huge Launches we could say a little version of Cruise Ship and in the evening we enjoyed Fuska & Chotpoti at 30 Godown. Natural breeze in the bank of Kirtonkhola and evening snacks made our evening, moreover the day beautiful.
Thank you for your time!
