NEWBIES INITIATIVE TASK - WHY AND HOW ON HIVE
Introduction
A big thanks to @starstrings01, @aliento, @projectmamabg and every other team behind this initiative.
Few days ago the first ever newbies-initiative meeting was held on discord, I express regret over not being able to attend, but the leaders made things easy for those that missed it by screen recording the meeting discussion and uploading for us to watch, immediately I saw I downloaded it and calmly watched it from the beginning to the end.
The second task assigned to the newbies was to answer questions developed from the meeting discussion. In today's blog, I will respond to the questions below, which were derived from various subjects discussed in the meeting.
WHY MUST YOU AVOID PLAGIARISM?
Plaigiraism simple means the act of stealing someone's else work or contents without giving credits to them, plaigiraism can be inform of images, text, artworks, music, videos or anything that doesn't belong to you.
Plaigiraism is a serious offence, in a developed country you might be jailed if you're caught plagiarising.
Hive is a site that values original content; the platform does not tolerate plaigiraism, and if you are detected, you may be blacklisted.
As I previously stated, Hive is a platform that encourages orginal content; you are free to write about anything as long as it is useful to the readers; you can write about your business career, if you are into music, you can share original music videos, if you are a traveler or photographer, you can share original videos and pictures, and so on; all of these things and more can be shared on the platform as long as they are orginal and free of plagiarism.
HOW DO YOU SOURCE A TEXT OR IMAGE ON HIVE AND WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SOURCE TEXTS AND IMAGES THAT ARE NOT YOURS
When we borrow text or download an image from the internet or from another person, we should source it in order to provide credit to the original owner and avoid any exploitation.
When it comes to images, we must use free images, which are images that the owner has granted permission to use for free. Freepik, Pixabay, and Pexels all have free images. But that doesn't change the fact that you still need to source it.
Use the markdown style below to source an image.
.
For instance, I want to source an image I downloaded from Freepik, so it goes link this [Freepik](https://www.freepik.com/])
. The result 👉 Freepik
Now to a borrowed text, it's compulsory to source it, using the markdown style below, I will source a popular motivation quote.

The result 👇

WHY SHOULD YOU NOT TAG NUMEROUS PEOPLE ON YOUR POST?
Tagging is necessary on Hive, but don't turn it daily activities. Also, tagging people who have nothing to do with the post you're about to publish is pointless and could cause the poster a few problems. When you tag someone, they are notified, and most people don't like it when their name is featured in a post. I only tag people if it's absolutely necessary. Also, tagging too many people all of the time, in my opinion, makes you appear desperate. Some whales might not be happy with it and can downvote you, and that would be extremely harmful, which is why we are urged to post in communities that are linked to the topics we are discussing.
WHY SHOULD YOU NOT PUBLISH SAME ARTICLES NUMEROUS TIMES?
Publishing the same article more than once to me doesn't make sense, it's required as spamming and Hive doesn't tolerate that.
Furthermore, republishing an article makes it less distinctive, and people who have already read it will find it less intriguing. Instead of republishing the same article, my recommendation is to take inspiration from a prior article and rewrite it to create a new content.
WHAT IS THE ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF ARTICLES YOU CAN PUBLISH PER DAY?
As seen in the video As novices on hive, it is recommended that the maximum number of articles that should be published everyday be four or less. However, it is recommended that you just write once per day because Hive considers numerous posts to be spam. I just post once a day and try to interact or engage with as many people as I can.
WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGAGEMENT?
Engagement simple means interacting with other users on the platform, this has a long way to go.
Engagement is very important, Hive is not only about receiving, you also need to give out. You can engage with others by commenting on their posts, rehiving and upvoting to support them.
WHAT OTHER POINTS DID YOU LEARN FROM THE VIDEO?
Tags is one of the things I learned during the meeting; tags are highly significant on the platform, and the amount of coverage your content receives is usually determined by the tag. As I previously indicated, tags are quite important, and knowing how to use them effectively is also crucial.
Conclusion
This is what I took away from the video of the meeting. Thank you so much to the team behind the initiative. I'll eagerly anticipate the next meeting and task.
Thank you for taking the time to read this article. God bless you.

Amazing markdown styles, it seems you are much better.. I want to learn how you came up with your divider too
A detailed explanation you gave there regarding the sourcing. Any newbie would get that explanation. Also how did you do the division stuff?
