Chelsea Woes Continues With Title Race Out Of Sight
Chelsea's poor run of form continued on Wednesday night at Stamford bridge as visitors Brighton & Hove Albion held them to a 1-1 draw. Thomas Tuchel boys needed to win this game at all cost not only to prove that they are back to form but close the gap on title favourite Manchester City who were engaged away to Brentford.
The match started with Brighton controlling proceeding as Chelsea finds it hard to dominate the midfield, losing possession and not wining second balls. However, Romelu Lukaku game the home fans something to cheer for when he puts Chelsea infront on the 28 minutes from a super header from the Mason Mount's corner kick.
Chelsea missed the opportunity to see the game off on the 55th minute when Callum Hudson-odoi pull out on account attack race but failed to find the right pass to Mason Mount on two versus two. Earlier one Pulisic's penalty call was turned down by VAR when the winger was judged to have been fouled inside the box.
Tuchel brought is Kante to added extra man in the middle of the pack and see the game off but Graham Potter's boys continued to pressure for an equaliser missing too many opportunities until substitute Danny Welbeck pulled one back for the visitors on the 90+1 minute of the added time from Cucurella cross into the box when he beat Chalobah to head pass Mendy.
Overall, it was a well deserved a point for Brighton in this game as they were better in all part of the pitch during the game. Brighton dominated by 53% of the position over Chelsea 47% and had more shots on target and passes accuracy.
This result means that Chelsea are now eight points behind league leaders Manchester City who won their game 1-0 away to Brentford last night. Chelsea next home fixture is against Liverpool on Sunday which which is a must win. Leeds United is only team that have lost against Chelsea at Stamford bridge in the last Chelsea's five home matches as others ended in draw.
