The Great Donor

I love to be around my students and they want to always be with me too. That's because of the way insane issues that affect them. As much I do that, I do not condole their act of silliness.

There is this particular boy in our history class. When it comes to history, all the learners were always attentive. They probably want to learn about the people of the world and they take the class with so much importance.

On this particular day, Chisom was disturbing other learners during class sessions. If he was not looking for his pen, he would be looking for his ruler. The height of it was when tapped another learner in the ear and I caught him red-handed.

He has to be trashed. And trashing he got. That day ended with all the students comporting themselves throughout the class session.

I knew some of the parents were nonchalant about discipline. And that was the exact flex I got after the day work from Chisom. He whispered to his classmates on how his mother had done to his former school to flog one teacher who flogged him for being naughty. He spoke with so.much confidence that his mother would reciprocate the same gesture tomorrow morning.

Hearing that made my ribs adjust in fear. As a man, I just acted like I didn't hear their conversation. My mind was beginning to I trust my thinking to I should not be in school the next day. Would that solve this problem? The answer to this question is known. I decided, I am going to face this no matter what. But first, I told some of my colleagues and they encourage me to stand my ground on the matter of discipline.

So, the next morning, I went to school with double mind of preparing for war or to keep quiet. As the teacher on duty, I got to address the learners on being outspoken and the need to always be truthful. After the assembly, the students returned to their classes. I walked to my office but did not notice Chisom.

As we were setting down to the day's work, I saw Chisom with a huge and tall woman. She was walking fearlessly, with strands of beard scattered on her chin, into the school but met the principal. At this point, I could see students in other classes looking through the window in their classes. They probably are waiting for the show to begin.

I thought the principal have arrested the situation, only for the woman to be led upstairs by her son, Chisom. Now, I was shaking but with Mr Agaga coming from behind the woman, then two other make teachers followed. Then she said to me:

You are the one that flogged my son yesterday, right?

I confidently replied her but with some fear deep down in my heart:

Yes, ma'am.

She took a step towards me with a long and firm came in her hand, then said:

This cane is for you.

I thought she was going to flog me. I was set to follow the movement of her hand to block the stroke from the cane. But she said:

Take it. Anytime my son misbehaves, help me flog out the demon in his head.

I melted at this point. Maybe I didn't hear her very well. She bought a cane and requested that I deal with her child if he does wrong again.

Chisom cried out to his mom. I know he wasn't expecting how it turned out. He had bragged how his mother would handle the situation.

mom!! No. No.

The woman looked back and said to her son:

See, I didn't pay that huge amount for you to become uncontrollable or a nuisance, ok.

As she moved away from the class, I proudly went for a permanent marker and wrote on the cane, DONATED BY MOMMY CHISOM, 2022.
