My Homesteading Journey: Potatoes Cultivation

avatar

Home farming or what we call homesteading has become one of the hobbies that many people have become interested in these days However it is a fun activity that makes you feel that you are contributing to providing your own food One of the easy and fun things you can grow at home is potatoes.

Growing potatoes does not require much effort and the method is very easy All you will need is some potatoes a knife good soil and water The method begins by taking the potatoes and cutting them in half After that you bury each half in the soil with the potato eyes the little holes on the potatoes facing up This eye is the one from which the new plant will grow.

After you bury the potatoes in the soil all you have to do is water them regularly Potatoes love moisture but do not drown the soil with water to prevent it from rotting You will need to water it whenever the soil is dry.

After about 7 weeks you will start to see the potato plants growing and growing At this stage you can carefully start digging around the plant to see the crop you have created Potatoes need good sun and loose soil to grow well.

Homesteading and growing potatoes is not only a fun and useful activity but it also provides you with fresh and healthy potatoes without any chemicals or pesticides Try growing it yourself and enjoy the fresh harvest you will reap with your own hands This gardening will give you a sense of accomplishment and will also make you enjoy eating fresh potatoes from your own garden.

Well done. I love potatoes too and will be planting some soon. I believe that you can work more on your blogs. Add more pictures from your farm and at least get your blogs to a 300word count.

Reading on other peoples blog can also be of help as you get to connect with other members of hive community. This will give you greater visibility and exposure for curation.
