This is my entry to today's Monomad Challenge, pictures of the garden with speedlight.
This time I tried to take some pictures using the speedlight, although the result could have been much better the truth is that I didn't want to complicate too much, it has been raining and I didn't want to risk too much my gear, it would have been good to use the softbox but as I repeat I didn't want to risk the equipment.
Instead what I did was to place the speedlight on top of my camera and started taking pictures like this, this first image I liked once it was edited, at first I wasn't sure it would work but it did and I'm very happy about it.
In the second picture I had some complications as there was very little light available and I was really taking the pictures without really knowing what the result would be, by the way the picture was very dark, I had to turn up the exposure a lot while editing.
Already for the next picture I realized that I needed to raise the ISO on my camera a little, not much, just a little.
So I decided to go back to the plant I photographed in photo number two, the composition was a little different but I liked the result with the light.
For photo 5 I decided I wanted more bokeh, that allowed me to reduce the ISO a bit, as you can see it's all about making the necessary adjustments, not with much patience because I was getting wet and my equipment too, the rain wasn't really rain, it was more like a breeze, but at the end of the day it does make it wet.
Photo 6 I can safely say that due to the color of the plant it reflected too much light and almost burned my highlights, nothing that can't be fixed in editing, you know I always shoot in RAW.
Image 7 and without a doubt this is my favorite, by this time I felt comfortable again with the speedlight and the bokeh I was getting, although in editing I decided to eliminate the excesses at the top and bottom, that's why I keep the 16:9 ratio, I feel it works quite well in this picture.
The last picture was difficult if not almost impossible, with an aperture of only F/1.8 and at the distance I was at it is quite difficult to decide what you want in focus, I guess at F/4 it would have been much better but the rain was starting to fall a little harder and I didn't have the chance to continue experimenting, maybe tomorrow I'll do it, see you tomorrow.
Can the cactus bear fruit and be eaten?
Yes most of them, although they do not give such big fruits, some of them could be dragon fruit, pitaya, prickly pear cactus.
Very nice pictures, I love those kind of plants.
I'm glad you like them, cacti and succulents are great plants to have in the garden.
I'm very busy with cactus plants, and you're really doing a really amazing job today, I'm working on the details of this cactus plant.
Amazing shot my friend.
Thanks, I like Astrophytum and peyotes, the bad thing is that they are endangered species, that's sad.
