These pictures sucks, but that's a good thing.

Let me get straight to the point, I think these pictures suck but I don't mind, I actually think it was a good exercise to get back to the streets to do street photography, I know I've said this many times and now that it's so hot in the city it's hard to think about walking the streets doing photography, but it's actually sometimes cooler outside than inside the house so I think it's a good opportunity to get out more often.

The truth is that I had been wanting to return to this site to take pictures for quite some time and I had not done it because the place was closed because there were doing some repairs and I must say that from my point of view they did not repair anything, in fact the site looks worse because the avenue and the bike path look all crooked like they never took level, in any case I wanted to go here and I can really say that I went to take pictures with the wrong lens, first I will show the pictures that can be usable, then the ones that are not worth it because they are out of focus.

Well actually the pictures are not that good, they are a little out of focus too and I don't want to sound bad but the fault is my lens, today I was relying on the autofocus of the lens because the sunlight was dazzling me a lot so I left all the work to the Canon 55-250mm lens, yes I was looking for some compression in the picture but the lens was like crazy trying to find the exact spot to focus, what I am sure of is that I will go back to the site but this time I will go with a prime lens, either the 50mm or the 24mm.

It all started when I saw this person walking with his dogs, and as I have some time without doing street photography I decided to take the zoom lens so as not to invade the space of others, but as you can see the cityscape is nice with that golden light of the sunset, so the place lends itself to cityscape and street photography.

In the following pictures was when I realized that the lens was focusing badly and I think the fault of it was because of the backlight, this lens has worked very well before but in different conditions such as morning and midday, still I hope to go out tomorrow or the day after tomorrow to take some pictures to check that everything is ok with the lens.

Chronologically this is where the first three pictures would go, but as I already put them at the beginning I will continue with the story, I kept taking pictures with the autofocus even when the light was already softer, but that also brought me problems with the shadows, as I was taking the pictures at a distance my lowest focal point was F/5.6 and the focus kept failing.

This is when I started to manually focus and I noticed a lot of difference in the pictures, they did not come out perfect but much better than in autofocus so we could say that definitely the problem was the backlight, anyway I plan to go back with the 50mm lens and portray the place better, the pictures despite being out of focus I think they are good because they help me to realize what I should correct, the composition can be improved a lot but there is potential for photographs, many people pass by doing exercise walking or running, alone or in groups, whole families that decide to spend the afternoon outdoors or people going to or coming from work, the possibilities are endless and I hope that next time it will be much easier and that the photographs will look better to share with you.

Don’t judge yourself so harshly 😉
It’s a good practice of street photography.
And they do portray a lot.
I like the light and colours… the changing people that come by.
Have a great day 👋🏻
