VISITING OOPL TO PREPARE FOR THE HIVE-FUNAAB COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS MEETUP

If you've been following the activities of the Hive-Funaab community, you must've come across some of the posts based on our upcoming hive meetup which is coming up by the 18th of December at the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library(OOPL).

If you've not, you can go through these links to update yourself.

To prepare for the event, @starstrings01 and I went to the location so as to put some things in place and ensure the community members get the most out of the hangout.

We had initially planned on going today(Sunday), but due to some issues, we had to fast track by going yesterday(Saturday).

A few minutes past 1pm, we set out to OOPL which is about 30mins from our school.

On getting there, the first thing we did was to set out to look for a relaxation spot where everyone could stay on Saturday. We have a lot of these spots on our campus so we felt that spotting such a place shouldn't be a big deal. To our amazement, it actually turned out to be much of a deal.

We spent close to 30 minutes touring the place, looking for the right spot. It was starting to seem as though luck was against us until we came across a very nice spot - a bamboo relaxation spot.

The ambience of this place was what attracted us. And the fact that it was very spacious and could contain a large number of people was a bonus.
We decided to make some enquiries about the place from the waiters and it was quite saddening when we discovered that the price of the things they sold there were very expensive and our proposed budget wouldn't be able to cater for everyone one. So, we decided to keep moving and check other places out.

Our next stop was the zoo.
Entrance into the zoo isn't free. A fee of approximately $2 is required for each person to enter. There were also dozens of rules one has to follow before entrance can be allowed. Due to the fact that we were already running behind schedule, we didn't enter. We just took pictures and left.
On Saturday, when we finally get to go there, everyone will get to go in and we'll all come back here to share pictures.

After leaving the zoo, we saw another spot where we could all stay and have a little chat on the event day. We made a mental note of the place and also asked for prices of things sold. There were a bit expensive too but lesser than the place we went to first.

We decided to go near the library itself(the main attraction), but we were stopped by a security guard who told us the area was restricted because it's the living quarters of the former president Olusegun Obasanjo. We'd later discover that one needed to purchase tickets in order to tour the area, but then we were no longer interested.

Moving on, we went to the cinema.
It was a relief being in a building with an AC after we had been in the hot sun for almost one hour.
They were about showing a movie when we arrived. All we did while here was to check for the list of the movies they'd be showing on Saturday when we come.

The last place we visited was the boat cruise section. There isn't much to do here expect for being driven around in a boat while feeding catfishes. Yea, it also doubles as a fish pond too.

While we were there, we made a new friend. Her name is Ruth, and just like her, she was also visiting OOPL for the first time. We talked for a while and took pictures with her.

Thanks to yesterday's visit, we've been able to put some things in place that would ensure that everyone gets the best out of this last meetup of the year.

Thank you for going through this post. I'll be looking forward to sharing my experience with you on Saturday.
