NEWBIE INITIATIVE LAST TASK: RECOUNT OF GOALS MADE || PLANS FOR 2022

avatar

I can still vividly remember how @starstrings01 and the wonderful @mayorkeys assisted in helping me make my first post on this platform. Those two were(and are still) far more experienced than I was. They helped me wrap my head around the whole concept of this platform. I really appreciate the help guys.

One thing that further helped in easing the transition process was the newbies initiative.

The various tasks, the people I got to meet, the experience... It was all a bit tasking for me, but it was also worth it.

One of the first tasks of the newbie initiative was for the newbies to set the goals they aimed to achieve before the program ended. You can go through my entry here.

In my post, I set a goal of having over 200HP before the end of the program. Well, we're at the end of the program and I checked my account to discover that I fell short by 45 HP. Too bad eh? I know...

One of the other things I listed there was to get better at networking. How did I fare in that aspect?
Judging from my history of not being interested in having relationships with people, I think I fared quite well. Through the avenue of the newbie initiative and Hive itself, I have met and related with more people than I could've imagined.

The challenges I highlighted in the earlier post played a huge role in frustrating me, but I still tried my best to find my way around them and now I think I'm starting to find a bit of balance between school and blogging.

And even though this wasn't part of my goals, I'm glad that I helped in the birthing of a new hive community - the Hive-Funaab community. There is no way I can recount my 2021 without making mention of this. We've managed to achieve quite a number in a very short period of time and I'm honored that I was(and still) instrumental to the cause.

I have also helped in the transition of up to 7 newbies here on Hive. Even though it isn't exactly convenient for me, I'm still happy that I got to help everyone of them.

LOOKING FORWARD...

I don't know what 2022 might bring, but I definitely know what I'm giving it - my all. For this new year, I'll be looking to having more healthy relationships with the people here and those around me. I want to also be more helpful towards preaching Hive to people, bringing them in and helping them grow. And before the end of the year, I'll be looking forward to having over a thousand HP.

I want to appreciate @projectmamabg @eddiespino @aliento @starstrings01 @theycallmedan and the whole newbie initiative team for giving me this opportunity. And to all of my colleagues for this cohort - I'll see you all at the top. I also want to say a big thank you to everyone that has been following me since the very first day up to this time.
I really appreciate the support and help from everyone. Thank you and God bless!!

155 HP is not bad bro. Though you were not active as much but you still did good.

2022 would be a better year for us bro

Thank goodness I saw your post, I didn’t know anything about this task. I had issue with my discord and ever since then I haven’t been following the newbies initiative updates.

I’ll make my task before it expire, irrespective of that you are doing well on the chain, just keep on pushing and everything will be good at the end

I do hope you've sorted out the issue.

Please do. I'll be looking forward to reading it. I'd appreciate if you tag me so I won't miss it when you post.

And thanks for the kind words. I appreciate.😊

@monioluwa, can I share some thoughts I have as I read your post?

I'll share... just cover your eyes if you don't want any advice from your Hive sister, right?! 😆😋😉

If you still feel like you don't really enjoy networking much, it might be because you're trying to make yourself talk to and be friends with people just for the sake of 'ticking a box' or 'earning more HP'. If networking feels like a chore, or it feels heavy to you, then try a different strategy:

Think about connecting with people who you really resonate with, who you would want to have a conversation with in real life because you find them interesting. Hang out with the people (online) who you feel like you could learn things from that you genuinely want to learn.

I find that those people who connect with a lot of people on here and just add "throw away" (meaningless) comments that don't add anything to the post/conversation are not really going to thrive on Hive. It's always going to feel like work to them. And I don't want a relationship with them anyway. I want a relationship with the people who I learn interesting things from and who make me laugh, and smile, and cry, and appreciate my life.

Hive can be a way to extend the awesomeness of our (IRL) lives if we let it be. It doesn't need to be a chore.

And it's the same with helping newbies join Hive. Think about how it will help you. My partner, Brad, helps bring new people to Hive all the times. He's actively doing it because he knows that the more people he helps onto the platform the more everyone wins, including himself.

So that's my advice (if you're still reading 😋): Take anything that feels like a chore on here and if you know it needs to be done then find a way to do it that feels joyful, productive and authentic.

Make it work for you and make it fun. Because life is supposed to be fun and I truly think it can be 😃

Of course not.😅😂 I love it when people take out of their time to advice me. Thank you.

One of the reasons why I joined this platform was so I could get better at networking in the real world. And to be honest, I haven't considered taking another approach before. Now that you've mentioned it, I think it's time to go back to the drawing table and restrategize. Your suggestion is a wonderful one by the way. I'll definitely try it out.

I smiled when I got to this part. 😅
I really appreciate the fact that you were detailed in your response. The least I can do is make sure I read it to the last letter.

You're one of the few friends I've made here on Hive and I'll be looking forward to getting to know you more. I really appreciate all the advice and I'll definitely do well to put them in action. 😊😊

Bless. You have a very sharp mind and a willingness to learn, Monioluwa. This we have in common so it's easy for me to appreciate this in you. There will be more people who feel like this, with clever minds and willing hearts. Keep looking. There's more of us.

See you soon, friend.
