Today makes it 14 days since I joined Hive and 8 days since I last posted on my blog. My inability to post has majorly been because of not finding inspiration on what to write.

While going through my wall, I stumbled upon a post of a fellow beginner @mistural – where she wrote about her experience on the platform so far. And after thinking about the idea for a while, I decided to take a cue from her and also write about my experience. @mistural Thank you! 😊

BUZZING AROUND AS A NEW-BEE ON HIVE

I’ve been using the peakd interface ever since I joined. At first, it looked confusing but as I continued to visit more often, I began to get more familiar with the functions.
The pages, sometimes, take a while to load on my phone’s browser. It’s a phone with a 1GB ram processor, so it’s not unexpected. The lagging makes it a little bit difficult to navigate fast and that can be frustrating sometimes.

THE BEGINNING

On my first day, I did what every other beginner usually does – explore everywhere and find what interests you. I did a quick search on some communities that align with my interests and it didn’t take long for me to find them. I joined Leo Finance, Hive book club, CineTV, OCD and STEMGeeks. I was all geared up and ready to begin.
I made my first introductory post and it was a success. I was given a warm welcome by everyone, it was wonderful.
I spent the next couple of days at a remote village where there was no electricity and network. This hindered my progress a bit.
After I left the village, I resumed my activities on the platform. I followed a few people I found interesting and surprisingly got followed back by most of them.

DISCOVERING THE NEWBIE INITIATIVE

While at my new job of exploring, I got introduced to the newbie initiative – a program aimed at mentoring newbies like me – the exact thing I needed.
After reading the rules and regulations of the initiative, I decided to apply by writing an application post.
The application post I wrote became my second blog post.

DISCOVERING CANVA

I found a gem in the app Canva!!. 😁😁

While writing this post, I consulted a friend who advised that I design an header image.
Having no prior knowledge of design, I was confused at first and told him of my non-existing design skills. Without wasting much of my time, he profered a solution - CANVA!!
The app is very easy to use and has lots of amazing features. If you're a beginner like me, you should definitely try it out.

STILL EXPLORING…

While I haven’t really made any friend on this platform, I have had a few interesting conversations with some people on the comment sections and on the Discord app. I'll be looking forward to them becoming the start of something great.

MOVING FORWARD

I have come to the conclusion that being frustrated about my inability to post won't help me in any way. So, I have decided to focus on what I joined this platform for - enjoying myself and meeting new people. To this effect, I've started reading and engaging posts I find interesting, and I'm doing more exploring. I’ve been doing this for the past four days now and I’ve been enjoying it. I plan on enjoying myself more.
