Planting and Growing Okro ( Abelmoschus esculentus)

Okro has over the years been one of our favorite soup within the country and hardly will you find a culture or tribe in my country that doesn't eat Okro. If we eat that much Okro them we should be ready to grow this vegetable in abundance.

So yesterday work was a brief inspection of some Okro plantation around our commercial Farms.

Okro grown large scale like this are usually for commercial purpose to be sold to people and for the farmer to make some money for himself at least.

There are several specie of okro plant. We have some in which the Okro the fruit grow to be very short in size while we equally have the long fruit Okro in which the fruit is very much longer in size. Switch a little search on the internet I can be able to fetch us the different names for these species but so far we do address them by their size and local names.

While we do have Okro in specie we also have another different species of it in either the normal one or the Agric engineered seeds. Now the benefit of agric engineered one is that the life cycle of our Okro has been reduced from 12weeks to 6weeks.
Within the 6weeks timeframe we can grow and harvest our Okro.

I hope that someone know that Okro belongs to the vegetable family and it has been among one of the veggies I had wanted to add to my garden at home.

Despite the development around our vegetables it's unfortunate to see that our local farmers here still went ahead to plant the normal seed.
And will have to wait for 3months before he can harvest his fruits.

I have also noted two different species of this Okro and looking at this specie it is a type of okro that doesn't grow tall. They are usually left at some inch above the ground.

While working and farming other species of crops I often take notice of every other species of crops around me just to learn and keep this experience. We never can say what categories of plants we would be growing in the future.

Today will be another day for work in the farm and I can tell you that we have already headed out for work and will be here later to tell you all about the happenings here.

Thank you all for stopping by.

Who'll be doubting what Okra can do when it comes to soup preparation. Okra doesn't need much ingredients to taste good. I prepared it for my children yesterday and today the soup is finished.
