For a good while now I have been looking into the opportunity of going into poultry farming. We have done alot of food crop farming and while that is still going on, I feel a desperate need and passion for poultry farming. More because I have some neighbors who are into poultry farming and I see the loads of benefits they enjoy raising birds.

There is a whole lots of benefits attached to poultry farming Especially for someone who is already into food crop farming. One can recycle resources/capital investment between the food crop and the animal crops.
From the poultry farm we can harvest their droppings to be used as fertilizer for the farm while the food harvested from the farm can be processed into poultry food.

If is even more beneficial having the two farms as we can get our constant supply of both animal and plant proteins.

This is going to be my first time experience of raising birds with totally no idea of how this journey is going to be like. Although we have the local birds around us always, those one are not difficult to raise like this Agric engineered chickens. The local chicken eats every kind of food and with no special medical attention. Their immune system are much more stronger and they are not prune to common bird diseases of fatality.

There is no harm in learning new things and this journey will usher me into new knowledge on how to grow birds. We will be learning about their food and medicines. And if for commercial purpose in the future we will need the basic knowledge on how to make this business profitable.

We got the first set of birds yesterday from the agric stores. The engineered birds are only sold at the stores where they have the facilities for hatching the eggs. A day old chick is sold for a thousand naira and something a dollar. Before now we can get those birds for half the amount above

Both the birds and the food they will be feed on is sold at the store. There is different kinds of feeds for the birds at their different stage if life's growth. And medication/vaccines is also available for the birds which they will be taking at intervals in between growth. We are also warned about light for the first stage growth.

If at all the birds will survive they will need constant availability of light so that they feed both during the time and at night. There is just so many rules and regulations about raising this bird but sooner than later we are going to master all these processes.
