Learn about the categories of Beans Harvest, Beans Growth and Harvest
Good morning, beautiful and hardworking friends of the community. I'm happy to see that our hard work is paying off and most farmers and homesteaders are going about harvesting different categories of crops.
Today I have come to show you how our beans are now ready for harvest. It was about 3 weeks ago when I showed us my excitement about this bean's flowering stage.
But as of yesterday, we have the green beans ready for harvest.
There are two stages to our bean harvest.
The first stage is when we get to pluck it while it is still green like this. This would most likely be the one sold in the market as green beans, which people use in preparing certain delicacies. But for my family, we have a special type of meal we often prepare with these green beans. My late mother is the one who specializes in cooking that meal. She boils both the beans and the pods together in a pot before pounding it slightly in a mortar after it is well cooked. After that, you can then prepare a pepper and meat sauce for eating with this. It's such a pity I didn't learn how that was done. Probably dad may know how to; I will ask if he can assist us with that; it will also bring to mind some of our traditional meals that are going into extinction.
Also know that whenever you want to prepare the green beans for meals, it is advisable to harvest them when the beans are not yet strong and matured up so that they can cook and become very tender and soft enough for eating.
The second stage or category of bean harvest is when we get to harvest them dry. We allow the green bean pods to get fully matured and the seeds within. It goes through the drying phase both on the farm and at home before we pound the pods to collect our bean grains.
With the dried bean grains, we can prepare different delicacies of beans. In fact, myself and my family love every kind of bean meal, and once this is harvested and taken home, I will be showing us the different types of delicious meals we will be preparing from our bean harvest.
This first set of our bean farm has produced really well, and everyone is so impressed with this development.
