Catfish Broodstock Package Enters My Seed Center Work

Saturday, December 21 2024. On this happy occasion I would like to show again some pictures of my activities at my work place when the mother of the catfish arrived at the fish seed center where I work. At the end of this year there will be a procurement of broodstock for catfish which will be sent from Jambi Province to Aceh Province.

Usually every year there is a supply of broodstock for catfish or other freshwater fish and in my opinion this is quite good because new broodstock can produce superior seeds. At the Fish Seed Center where I work, there are also several types of catfish that are spawned, such as jumbo and also Sangkuriang.

As we know, catfish is a type of freshwater fish that has high economic value. Catfish also has quite high market demand and catfish meat also has high protein. The price of catfish in large fish markets is between 1 dollar and a half to 2 dollars.

The mother catfish was sent using an L300 pick-up car which had a large drum container provided behind it and on the road it was filled with catfish. If you are shipping large broodstock like this, of course you can no longer use packing bags because there are several types of large fish such as catfish and tilapia that have sharp spines that can puncture the packing bags. Therefore, here they use a large drum to put the catfish into the bird, then they deliver it and use a car.

The journey from Jambi Province to Aceh Province is quite far, so when sending fish like this you must have good techniques and experience that can ensure the fish reach their destination safely. The feeling they made of this delivery was that there was a mistake on the road so they got lost at several intersections close to where we lived. And then they also called me and I asked for a video call to direct the way to my place.

In the pictures that I want to show, we can see that the mother of the catfish was handed over when it arrived yesterday. On that day my boss was also at the location and he also showed me the activities for releasing the broodstock that had arrived and I also had time to do some documentation as proof that the catfish had arrived at my place.

Before I continue to discuss the picture that I have prepared, it would be a good idea for me to say my words of respect to all my friends wherever they are and hopefully the best will always be for us together. OK, friends, let's look at the pictures that I have prepared and I will discuss these pictures little by little.

The parent catfish are put into drums and transported using an L300 car.Father filled the drum up to half and then put the catfish into the water in the drum.For shipments like this, of course, the fish must not be too densely packed in the container provided because the fish in the container must have sufficient oxygen.

My boss did a handover with the person who delivered the parent catfish.He shook hands and I took a picture at the handover.Photos like this are always requested by certain parties because they also have to make documentation to make it easy to see that the parent fish has arrived at its destination.

Some of the parent catfish that had arrived at the location were placed in styrofoam so that we could take some pictures for documentation.All the catfish broodstock that came were around 600 and some of them we put in Styrofoam so we could take documentation.Meanwhile, we spread the rest directly into the pond using drums carried by the transport vehicle.The size of the parent catfish ranges from 200 grams to 300 grams.Just a short while more maintenance is needed, then the parents can be selected and then spawned because they are old enough and big enough.

My own picture when I was doing the breathing of the parent fish in the pond.We brought the parent fish in the styrofoam down into the pond and then released it while adapting to the water in the styrofoam and also the pond water.This adaptation functions to relieve fish stress.The water in the pool of feelings was not too high because I had just put water back into the pool.

The remaining fish that I won't put in the styrofoam, I will spread using the drum.Can continue to release the parent slowly into the pond.
