You can meet people who can assist you get your next career through networking in person and online. Networking can be intimidating even for seasoned professionals.

Below are some of the things which will help you get started.

  • REACH OUT TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Inform your family, friends, neighbors, and former coworkers that you're looking for work and what you're seeking for.

  • ENGAGE IN NETWORKING EVENTS

If you're shy, going to an event designed particularly for networking may be easier because everyone else will be doing the same. Then you may use what you've learnt at those gatherings to other situations where networking isn't the major focus.

  • JOIN CAREER DRIVEN SOCIAL MEDIAS

LinkedIn and Meetup are two examples of social networking platforms that can help you meet more people in your sector that can help you obtain a job.

  • PRACTICE PROPER HANDSHAKE

A solid handshake conveys confidence to potential colleagues and employers. Test your handshake with your family and friends to see if it's too weak or too powerful.

  • HAVE A GOOD EYE CONTACT SKILL

It's not simple to network, but making eye contact might help people remember your name. You don't have to look someone in the eyes, but you should listen closely and show real interest in what they're saying.

  • MAINTAIN A GOOD ONLINE PRESENCE

Endeavor to be sure your social media presence is positive and displays you and your work well. Use a professional email account, don't post anything on the internet that could cause you embarrassment later, and make sure that all of your personal profiles transmit the same message to a potential employer.


HELP YOUR CONTACTS REMEMBER YOU

  • ALWAYS CARRY YOUR BUSINESS CARD

You will always be ready incase an opportunity arises if you carry a few business cards with you. Your name, phone number, professional email address, and a link to your online work portfolio should all be included on the card.

  • MAKE SHOWING YOUR WORK TO OTHERS EASY

You'll find it much easier to send out links to your work and documentation, if relevant, if you put your portfolio or résumé online.

  • WRITE APPRECIATION NOTES

If someone provides you good advise or offers to arrange up a meeting with someone who can help you advance your career, be sure to get their contact information and thank them. Although a handwritten note leaves a lasting impression, if you can't discover your contact's postal address, a sincere email will suffice.

Smiles, so handshakes also applies to building confidence and networking.. I didn't know about this. But one thing I am sure about is that a very strong online presence would help build your network so as having support from friends and families around you.

Yes nah... I got this idea from one of my neighbor.. he repairs phones and laptops... He said he got most of his customers by greeting (handshake)..

well I don't really no sha, but he mentioned he's made some customers through handshakes.

Very well, this is quite intriguing. These are of utmost importance to growing really, cos some of these have helped me build the little but strong connections I have. And there is more for me here to add to my collection to facilitate more network growth.
