Picture-perfect landscape on our Wednesday Walk
A much needed Wednesday Walk
It feels like this week has been going on for ages, and yet I feel like I haven’t achieved anything. Work is busy, motivation for research is low and I’m drowning in student assignments that need to be assessed. It feels impossible to start. I needed to take a break, get out and go on a little Wednesday Walk. Maybe after a few hours outside, I’ll have the energy to read through 42 assignments.
I rounded up a few willing to go for a walk. Just between me and you, they also needed the walk. We set sail for the Seven Dams Conservation Area. If I’m getting out of the house, I’m getting OUT of the house.
We didn’t have a game plan, we just knew that we wanted to get lost and make friends with all the critters along the route. My brother is embracing the warm weather, even though the cold air is still present.
Today was a picture-perfect day. Not the entire day, just the walk and the landscape. But just look at this landscape… It truly looks like a painting.
We made a stop next to one of the dams. With spring in the air, everything is green again. I’m memorized by all the plants sprouting and showing us their perfectly vibrant colours. The red between the green grass is a masterpiece. And the sun setting behind the trees makes me think about old-school romance movies.
Turning around you have a completely different view. How is nature able to give us two opposites in one location? The previous photo holds all the gold and happiness, while this photo is more blue and has a gloomy feel to it.
Mother nature is one magnificent artist.
We made our way to one of the dams that people hardly visit. We tried to find a spot to sit down and relax, but with the three of us all being indecisive it took a while…
We finally decided on a tree… Yes, we picked a tree as or spot to relax. Clearly I messed up the photo, but you get the idea. The three of us made our way up the tree, with me panicking that one of us will fall.
My brother and I. Always with sunglasses. At least this time both of us are looking at the camera, and acting like normal human beings.
We were completely surrounded by tree branches. I could hear the bees around us, and the birds coming home for the night. The wind made its way through the leaves and gently touched our skins.
We waited for the sun to set before we left the comfort of the trees. On our walk back to the car, the sky was starting to turn dark blue. More clouds have emerged to cover the earth. Even with most of the light gone, you can still see the landscape in this photo. And it’s not just the silhouette, but the different colours of the grass.
By the time we reached the car, the horizon was on fire. The clouds made it seem like there was indeed a fire, with large smoke clouds making their way through the air.
It was a much-needed Wednesday walk. And I was able to get amazing photos of the landscape and the sunset. I hope everyone else had a wonderful Wednesday! The week is almost over and will be able to catch our breaths again.
Picture perfect so fits this post, the scenery and skies so beautiful
isnt it funny how often turning around the scene and mood can change completely
I hope the walk refreshed you and gave you some energy to do the assessments
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
A different point of view will always give you something new. It's wonderful to be albe to capture that in a photo.
I totally agree
have a good day
I feel you. I started to work this Monday and I managing all that I was doing until now plus the work is taking away all my energy. I have two options, to get used to the new rhythm or take breaks, in nature. Maybe combining the two would work well ;)))
It does, indeed. So beautiful! 😍
Oo I do recommend moving your office into nature just for a day! I will sometimes make my way to our botanical garden for 2 hours (since my laptop can go around 3 hours without charging). The open air makes everything feel a little less stressful.
Take a walk is always relaxing to charge the batteries of the body and soul.
