A day in Namibia: Looking for goats!
Welcome back to our Namibia adventures! If you missed the first post feel free to go back to Scenery on our road trip to sunny Namibia!. And stay tuned for more stories about our visit.
There is no need to explain that we were tired from our long journey the previous day. I mean 10 hours on the road will drain anyone. If I'm honest we also didn't go to bed early, there was too much excitement for the weeks to come. Naturally, we didn’t wake up the next day until 12 that afternoon. And honestly, it was not by choice, seeing as the little one came and jumped on the beds. We had to wake up and help her feed the puppies… So we got up to feed the puppies. One can't say no to a 3-year-old, and also not to puppies.
There were 7 little monsters, but they gave the best cuddles. And to our surprise, the biggest one was the girl! We would feed them and watch them run around until they got tired and come lay on our laps in the sun for a little nap.
Soon after having our first cup of coffee for the day, we were sent on a mission. “Get group 8 into the camp close to the river”… of course I had no idea what this meant, but everything was explained to me. We loaded some feed for the sheep and set off.
One of the many windmills on the farm. At this point, we have been looking for group 8 for around an hour. I also started to rethink this farm thing…
Just as we were about the give up, we found group 8! We moved them to a new camp and celebrated with oranges.
This is one of the rivers that flow over the farm. As you can see it is completely dried up since the rainy season is still on its way.
Our view from one of the camps. I want to point out three things in this photo. 1: you can see the mountain range from the first post. 2: You can see the hill we climbed (also from the first post). And 3: you can see the house in the distance.
After a long day of driving around and looking for goats, we collected some wood for a fire and enjoyed the sunset. The little ones wanted to tag along and had a lot of fun trying to find the biggest stick.
Namibia has shown me some of the best sunsets. Well, that's not completely true, I love sunsets no matter where they are. I must admit the openness of the night sky is something I have never seen anywhere else. The sky changes colour from blue to orange to black to pitch black... And then in a few seconds mezmorising you with thousands and thousands of little bright lights. This truly just shows you once again how small we as humans are.

Like you.... I want to point a few things out as well...
You didn't share a photo of those oranges! They sounded delicious and I bet they were!!!
Second... I can not see that house.. Even if I zoom in... I think I might be getting blind 😂 but I have faith that if I get lost there and see the same setting I will refer back to that picture and well find the house!
Third... I wish I could experience the night sky the way you described it!! It sounds amazing.... Even though I live on the farm.... The town is still basicly next to us.. And it still dims out the night sky!. Perhaps one day when all is apocalyptic I will be able to experience the true beauty 😍😍😍
I think we need to go get your eyes tested 😂. Or perhaps it's just easier for me to see since I know what I'm looking for?
Hopefully we won't have to wait for an apocalypse! We just need to go back to Namibia 😎
What a great way to wake up!
