Hola amigos de la colmena, saludos a todos y gracias por dejarme ser parte de esta maravillosa familia, hoy les quiero hablar del arbol llamado olanto o cocotero.

Hello friends of the hive, greetings to all and thanks for letting me be part of this wonderful family, today I want to talk about the tree called olanto or coconut tree.

El coco mono como se le conoce en nuestra región venezolana, su nombre científico es Lecythis ollaria, es muy abundante en los bosques y quebradas a orillas de los ríos.

The monkey coconut as it is known in our Venezuelan region, its scientific name is Lecythis ollaria, is very abundant in the forests and streams on the banks of the rivers.

Dicen los lugareños de la zona que tiene propiedades medicinales, otras personas lo usan para eliminar el vello de algunas partes del cuerpo, dicen que es muy efectivo, con el aceite de las semillas preparan una crema.

The locals of the area say that it has medicinal properties, other people use it to remove hair from some parts of the body, they say that it is very effective, with the oil from the seeds they prepare a cream.

Al triturar las semillas se obtiene
una pasta, la juntan en la zona donde no quieren tener vello y la crema actúa de manera depilatoria muy efectiva.

By crushing the seeds you get
a paste, they put it together in the area where they do not want to have hair and the cream acts in a very effective depilatory way.

Las semillas de ollanto son muy apreciadas por los monos y también por las ardillas, no esperan a que maduren, intentan abrir los cocos con sus dientes, que son muy afilados.

Ollanto seeds are very appreciated by monkeys and also by squirrels, they do not wait for them to mature, they try to open the coconuts with their teeth, which are very sharp.

El árbol alcanza una altura muy alta y es muy frondoso incluso en verano, porque sus raíces son muy profundas y absorben mucha agua en invierno.

The tree reaches a very high height and is very leafy even in summer, because its roots go very deep and absorb a lot of water in winter.
