Garden Journal Bi-weekly Newsletter 5th April 2023
Today is my daughter's birthday, so this fortnight's thumbnail with the sunny yellow flowers seems appropriate. It reminds me how beautiful life can be, although the life cycle is a funny thing really as it is incomplete without death.
Interestingly the first post today which caught my eye exhibits the life/death balance. The heat of summer is fast approaching, and is easy to lose plants if you plant them out when it gets hot. Cleverly, @chuch makes use of old plants, from a fallen rotted tree to provide nourishment, to pieces of banana trunk for shade.
Then @bigorna1 discusses the ecological succession of growing, starting with pioneer plants to prepare the way for more delicate plants in harsh conditions. It bodes well to observe nature's ways and follow her example when we work in own gardens.
While the North is now well into spring, some areas may have to wait a little longer before the weather warms up enough to start planting outdoors. @generikat laments over this sad fact as the snow falls when it's supposed to be time to sow. Solace needed to be taken with seeds and seedlings in the greenhouse instead.
There are so many great posts in the Hive Garden community right now and I struggled to pick one out for my final feature. I think many will be going in @riverflows garden journal round up, though, so perhaps, like me, you'll enjoy this thought provoking post on water from @stortebeker.
Beneficiaries this week go to @stortebeker and @generikat.

Hey, happy birthday to your daughter 🥳🥳🥳, Hope he can become a filial son and make his parents proud 😊
Which daughter had their birthday? The tall one or the tall one? 😆
The tallest one. The one that's taller than her dad. 😆
The eldest. My youngest is next month and I'll no longer have any teens then.
Poor Matt gets confused now they're both grown up and keeps mistaking the youngest for the eldest.
They are pretty similar - both tall amazon beauties like their mum!
Haha! I think average is usually how my height is described. My girls call me MiniMum now. 🤣
Mini mum! That's funny!
Bendiciones y muchas felicidades a su hija por un día más de vida, que Dios le de mucha vida y salud. Y por aquí ya está saliendo el verano para dar entrada al invierno. Mi país es tropical y solo se dan 2 estaciones.
