Here patents navigation without GPS.
HERE (author of the HERE WeGo navigation app) has filed a patent application for sound-based navigation. The system consists of sound sensors and a central unit that analyzes the received sounds reflected from the environment. Such a mechanism allows you to more accurately determine the location of the car or drone, and is especially useful in situations of GPS signal loss. This is of great importance not only in everyday navigation from point A to point B, but it can be particularly important in self-driving cars. The whole system can be easily implemented even in existing cars, especially since HERE as a company belongs to a consortium founded by Audi, BMW and Daimler and many models of these brands have navigation based on HERE maps. At this stage, however, it is difficult to say if and when such navigation will come into use.
