Thunderbolts Original Art - Issue #1 Page 13
Was checking out @blewitt's awesome Spidey vs Doc Ock cover. Thought I might share my first piece of original art. This is by Mark Bagley (pencil) and Vince Russell (ink.) It actually comes from issue #1 of Thunderbolts from 1997. Which was kind of by luck. When I saw this on eBay I just thought it was really cool and it was only like $60-70 if I remember right. It was just listed as page 13 of a Thunderbolts comic or something like that. It wasn't until after I got it and started wondering what issue it was from until I figured out it was the first issue.
For years after that I looked for other pages from the first issue and never came across any. Pretty big Thunderbolts fan as I've mentioned before. If I could put together all the original art from the first issue... I think I could say I probably have the best Thunderbolts collection! 😁 But it doesn't seem likely I'll find anymore. And if I did, probably can't afford them... On to the art!
Despite never finding anymore pages from issue one, I did get a bit of an original art bug. Ended up with 9 Thunderbolts pages and later I picked up the page 1 splash from Dark Minds #4. No covers though. Most of pages were relatively cheap. The cover to Thunderbolts 151 was up for a long time. I just never had enough money for it. When I did finally decide to go for it, it was no longer available.
Any other Original Art collectors out there?
Electronic-terrorism, voice to skull and neuro monitoring on Hive and Steem. You can ignore this, but your going to wish you didnt soon. This is happening whether you believe it or not. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism
nice score! A lot of interesting techniques on this page! Is this the standard 11x17? I have a page or two from some indy comics, I'll have to find them and post
It is 11x17. I don't know a lot about the paper they use but seems Marvel might provide it. There is a super light colored Marvel Comics logo in the top left.
I actually forgot... I have a couple other indy pages I got before this... I don't even remember the book they were from. They were done on 11x14 pages. I got them when I was really young and didn't take very good care of them sadly.
Look forward to seeing yours!
There's this joy in collecting original art, just the thought of owning it, makes you willing to pay whatever they are charging
There is a joy! It is awesome to own a one of kind art page that was printed in one of my favorite comics.
Keep collecting as much original art as you can afford.
Never saw the thunderbolt comics, just watched the movie
Oh how true your statement is. Lol
Dude!!!!! I love it. I also love that there is another OA collector on here!!! Show off more brother! What else ya got?!?
Kind of makes me want to shop for more! 😅 Been a while since I purchased any. I was checking out Comic Art Fans and there seems to be some Thunderbolts issue #1 pages on there, not for sale though.
