Enjoy a walking tour the historical places " Totona Cathedral " Alessandria, Italy
Hello everyone, back again with another tour in Tortona, Alessandria, Italy. And today is the first time I went to The Cathedral of Tortona the Duomo Square with the Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace. The Cathedral of Tortona is a Catholic cathedral in the city of Tortona, Piedmont, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Lawrence. It is the bishop's seat of the Diocese of Tortona.
The time to start building was in 1575 and completed in 1592. It was consecrated by Bishop Cesare Gambara in the presence of Our Lady of Tortona, Christina of Denmark, in 1583, at which time it was already half-built. And on October 1, 1891, the ordained Luigi Orione was appointed as the curator of the cathedral.
The Cathedral of Tortona is a cathedral architecture that respects the order of the Reformation, except in the case of the absence of wings. As a result of the lack of space, the cathedral was squeezed between two streets and leaned against the city wall in front. The original facade was bare brick, divided into two parts. The top was closed with a simple structure without a gable and the two small bell towers on the sides were covered with a tiled gable roof.
We walked inside, where only a few people were sitting and praying. The area inside was a large hall. The center was a chair for Christians to pray. Looking at the center, it was clearly visible. I walked around taking pictures. Each point had a statue or story related to Christianity. The view in front of me was beautiful. This large hall looked interesting.
I might not understand the meaning of each point, but the architecture that was built was very beautiful. I walked around and sat in the center. I didn't know what to do. I came to see this place. At least it was another experience to see the beauty of each religion. After walking around for a while, we came out.
In fact, this city also has many interesting places. And importantly, this city is very old. It is another city with a long history. In addition, there are many legendary people who were born in this city. Even though hundreds of years have passed, some things can still be seen today. The buildings that you see still look old and charming.
I hope everyone likes my post. Thank you for following. See you next time. Have a great time.
