1/3 🧵 Tipping is a way to reward that exceptional service we’ve had at an establishment, a way to show gratitude. But can it become an obligation? Sometimes it feels like we’re in the wrong if we don’t leave a tip.

2/3 🧵 Speaking of which, here in Brazil, there’s a common practice where restaurants add a 10% service charge to your bill. Of course, you’re not obligated to pay it, but many people don’t even notice this extra charge and end up paying it.
3/3 🧵 The big problem is that many restaurants don’t pass this money on to their employees, which is simply absurd. Of course, I talk more about this in the post below:
